Owen Wilson has placed his acting career on hold as he recovers from his suicide attempt.Wilson, 38, has dropped out of Tropic Thunder, a movie comedy for DreamWorks he was set to begin shooting in two to three weeks with longtime pal Ben Stiller.
The decision for Wilson to sit out the project was apparently mutual between him and Stiller, and it is unclear whether Wilson will be replaced or if his role will be dropped from the script.
Wilson and Stiller, 41, have starred together in eight movies: The Cable Guy (1996), Permanent Midnight (1998), Meet the Parents (2000), Zoolander (2001), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Starsky & Hutch (2004), Meet the Fockers (2004) and Night at the Museum (2006).
Wilson is currently in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being taken there Sunday. In his only statement since then, the leading man has asked to be given the privacy to "heal."
Neither DreamWorks nor Wilson's reps have commented on the casting development.
Lindsay Lohan and her mother, Dina, have decided to allow Michael Lohan to visit his eldest daughter at her Utah rehab.
"It was actually her older brother, Michael's, idea. It's a part of the healing process," a friend said. "Lindsay will see him later this week, but she will have counselors with her. It will not be alone."
Michael hasn't seen Lindsay in years due to his abusive temper and violent behavior. In order for him to be allowed to visit, Dina - who has a restraining order out against Michael - had to get it lifted.
"Dina thinks it is a good idea," the friend said. "Lindsay needs to deal with this and needs closure." Michael has said he's been sober and found God since leaving jail earlier this summer. A rep for the Lohans said, "Yes, he will be seeing his daughter."

Angelina Jolie visited Iraq on Tuesday to meet with refugees and U.S. troops in the country.The statement said the 32-year-old actress met with displaced Iraqis in neighboring Syria on Monday before crossing into Iraq for a few hours Tuesday "to see firsthand the plight of hundreds of thousands of families uprooted by the ongoing conflict.""I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to this humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners," Jolie was quoted as saying by the Geneva-based agency.
Since she seems to adopt a kid from every country she visits, I'm assuming she'll have herself an Iraqi child in the next 6 months.
Amy's in-laws along with her father have been speaking publicly regarding Amy & Blake's drug problems. Blake's parents have gone as far as asking fans to boycott her album, in hopes she will see how bad it has really become.
Georgette Fielder-Civil told the BBC: "I think they both need to get medical help before one of them, if not both of them, eventually will die."Fielder-Civil's husband, Giles, also noted that his son and Winehouse â"recently photographed with blood on her clothes, face and shoes â" were "very close. ... If one dies through substance abuse, the other may commit suicide."
Giles Fielder-Civil told the BBC that he believed his son and daughter-in-law used cocaine, crack cocaine and possibly heroin, and added: "Georgette and I both believe that they are drug addicts, and they don't believe they are. I think they believe they are recreational users of drugs, and they are in control, but it seems to Georgette and I that this isn't the case."The couple went on to propose that fans should help by refusing to buy Winehouse's records. "It's a possibility, to send that message," they said.
But Mitch Winehouse said he believes such a boycott "won't send any message to Amy at all, unfortunately." Instead, he said, "The only way out of this is not sectioning them, not locking them up. At some point they are going to reach rock bottom."
There's nothing you can really do to an addict to make them stop. They have to decide to do it on their own. Even boycotting her album wouldn't stop her from doing smack. An addict will figure out how to get their fix one way or another. Amy's dad is right. The bitch will have to hit rock bottom before she realizes how bad it is, I just hope that 'bottom' isn't 6 feet under.
