Big Brown Is The Big Loser At Belmont

I know this isn’t exactly a ‘celebrity’ story but Big Brown is a celeb in the horse racing world. I absolutely love horse racing and this was THE race of the year. What the hell happened to Big Brown? As you know Brown had a quarter crack in his hoof which they have been working on for over a week, and it wasn’t patched until the day before the race. Can you imagine having a deep split in your toe nail, fixing it with basically some super glue and trying to run the race of your life the next day? That’s how I see it with Big Brown. Obviously I’m no horse expert but I’ve grown up watching horse racing and going to the track for as long as I can remember.

There were only a few horses who were in the Belmont stakes who have actually raced that track in months…. Big Brown wasn’t one of them. I think $$$ signs were in the eyes of the trainers and owners more than the horse itself. Everyone wants to win the triple crown considering it hasn’t been done in 30 years but it’s not worth injuring a horse more than he already is. Casino Drive was the big competitor against Big Brown in the Belmont and he was scratched over an hour before the race due to an injury. Mad props to those who pulled him out instead of risking his life.

Did the fact that Brown hasn’t had a ‘legal’ steroid shot in the last couple months have something to do with his performance this past Saturday? It’s hard telling, but I don’t agree with the legal steroid use in horse racing anyway. I’m glad the jockey pulled back on him instead of pushing him harder which could have led to a serious injury. Then again, Big Brown’s sperm is gonna be worth some damn good money and they don’t want that to go to waste, do they?

Congrats to Da’ Tara on winning the Belmont, and good luck to Big Brown in the future. That’s my 2 cents for the day! I could go on and on but I’ve said enough already.
