At least 10 people have received automated calls purportedly from the St. Joseph County Health Department telling them they might have contracted a sexually transmitted disease.
The health agency says the messages are a hoax and that it would never leave personal medical information on an answering machine or through an automated system. The calls reportedly tell people they have had exposure to an STD or HIV virus.
Health Department nursing director Barb Baker says at least some of those receiving the calls took them seriously.
She says the calls seem to have been made at random, going to people ranging from 11 to 70 years old.
I personally wouldn’t believe it if I got an STD phone call, … that’s exactly why I would jump in my car and go to Planned Parenthood immediately because I’m so sure everything’s okay. Ya, that’s why. Honestly, if you use protection and you’re all up to date with your check-ups, I’m not so sure how skurred any of the people were.

And that is the only reason why I’m running this picture, so I can mention the movie. Death Race is SO not my kind of movie but my friend invited me to a premiere so I went with her, a bunch of her friends and the sexiest man in the world. Yep, I’ve stopped reading, “It’s Called a Breakup Because it’s Broken” days ago when I decided that I still wanted to tap dat ass! At least I’m honest.
Anyway, the movie is violent. As I said, it’s not my type of flick but if you’re into fast cars and violence then you should love it. It’s pretty suspenseful.
Jason Statham hopes his Death Race costar Tyrese Gibson can bring him a little luck Tuesday during an appearance on MTV’s TRL alongside their leading lady, actress Natalie Martinez, in New York City. The action-adventure flick opens Aug. 22.
After rumors that the conservative Malaysian government banned the scheduled Aug. 29 concert for being “too sexy,” Lavigne told MTV News that the show will definitely go on.
“I’ve actually been approved by the government to play a show,” Lavigne said on Thursday. “I’ve already sold 10,000 tickets there, so I will be going to put a concert on for the fans.”
Addressing concerns over her sexy image, Lavigne says, “They tend to, you know, sometimes not want Western artists in their country. I respect that, but at the same time, you know, there’s people that listen to music there and want to see their idols and stuff, so it’s all good.”
Lavigne is not the first to have a brush with the conservative Malaysian government: Gwen Stefani was forced to cover up her famous midriff in Malaysia last year, and the Pussycat Dolls were fined in 2006 for violating Malaysia’s strict indecency codes.

The book will be released on December 9, 2008.
Michael Phelps also authored a book in 2005 called Beneath the Surface. Selling just 10,000 copies, it was hardly a best-seller, but the golden boy of swimming has just snagged another book deal with a reported $1 million advance.
