Barack Obama Special Olympics Joke That Prompts Barack Obama to Apologize

I haven't watched Jay Leno in god knows how long, but I stayed up to watch Mr. Handsome President Man Barack Obama's appearance. He did well. Mr. Charismatic was a big hit but he made a joke about the Special Olympics, which is the only thing that many are focusing on. Natch.

I still think people should pick and choose their battles, but the man is the leader of the free world. Obama's gotta be extra careful about topics that are so sensitive to some people.

From the Huffington Post:

On his way back to Washington on Air Force One, Obama called the chairman of the Special Olympics, Tim Shriver, to say he was sorry -- even before the taped program aired late Thursday night.

"He expressed his disappointment and he apologized in a way that was very moving. He expressed that he did not intend to humiliate this population," Shriver said Friday on ABC's Good Morning America. "He, I think importantly, said he was ready to have some of our athletes over to the White House to bowl or to play basketball, or help him improve his score."

"Mr. Handsome President Man" has a nice ring to it. ;)

    Gyllenhaal,

Of course Obama made an inappropriate comment, but my larger point was that it's mostly Republicans who are making such an enormous deal about his comment from last night. Their objective is to distract and derail Obama in the media as much as possible. :)

Why does everyone always have to compare him to other people? Those two aren't are president, he is. I love how it is common practice to deflect his screw up and put it on someone who isn't even in office. I guess they didn't get elected for a reason so does that mean we should hold him to a higher standard because he won?? HELL YES IT DOES!!!

I watched last night too, it was NOTHING, and hopefully not too many people will associate the interview with that comment. It was the press who mostly noticed, cause he made that comment quickly and seemingly over some background noise.

But we all know that McCain and Palin would have made 25 million speaking gaffes by now. Right?

We live in a politically correct world where comedians are the only ones who get to say what we all want to and get away with it.

Charismatic is the only thing I will give him, I digress:)!! That said, it was a harmless Insinuation. People need to calm down a bit in this country! He didn't offend anyone. If he did, trust in me I would be the first person to jump on it! BLAH...
