Jamie Foxx apologized to Miley Cyrus on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night. I tuned into Jay last night and I was unimpressed.
For starters, Jamie practically had a smirk on his face the entire time that he was explaining why he said what he did. He said that he attacked Miley because he's trying to be the black Howard Stern. FAIL!
"Did you say something inappropriate?" Jay Leno innocently queried.
"Yeah," Foxx admitted, taking a few breaths before launching into a full-blown apology. "I so apologize to [Cyrus], and this is sincere," he began.
"I am a comedian, and you guys know that whatever I say, I don't mean any of it. [Big laugh from the audience]. And sometimes, as comedians, as we do, we go a little bit too far.
"I have a radio show...We're really the black Howard Stern. We go at everybody. There was a situation with Miley Cyrus, and I just want to say, I apologize for what I said. I didn't mean it maliciously. You know I'm a comedian. You know my heart," he added, turning to Leno.
Then, looking at the camera, "Miley, I apologize, so I'll call you. I got a daughter too, so I completely understand."
Jamie then said "I'm a comedian" about four more times and added, "Do I lose my comedic license now?!!" Within minutes Jamie then got up and started singing and dancing. A true symptom of remorse.
Jamie has also been kind to Miley at an inaugural concert. An upset Billy Ray said "That's why it's even more disappointing."

I'm disturbed by this because Miley's only 16 and Jamie's grown. His age and lack of maturity makes his insults especially pathetic. And he was much too crude with the sex tape and "get Chlamydia" talk. It's disgusting.
Jamie and Miley's fanbase are totally different demographics, though, so this isn't actually going to hurt his career in any way, but it may damage his image a lil.
I think people should be upset about this. Those comments have a hint of sexism, in my opinion.
Would he be telling a man to do a sex tape or to get a gum transplant so he can look sexier? And would he tell a male to make a sextape with his mother?! None of that was cute and shouldn't be considered socially acceptable. I'm glad that Jamie's catching heat over this.

Jamie is claiming his talk show to be likened to Howard Stern? Hahahaha. NEVER. For starters, Stern posesses a great deal of wit, intelligence and judgment, those of which Jamie didn't demonstrate in his diatribe against Miley at all. And, unlike Jamie, Howard doesn't go as much far as to make unwise and disparaging comments against subjects at the expense of gaining a laugh or a ratings point.
Anything is fair game when it comes to comedians targeting entities and subjects in our society. But Jamie blurred the line between utilizing comedy that should clearly come across joking behavior when we perceive it and into "oh, this person sounds serious with his comments" territory. He tried too hard with his Miley comments.
By reminding the audience that he's a comedian multiple times on Leno, that alone confirms to me that Jamie was not sincere about any apology either. Not surprising.

A mostly agree with Firecracker, Jamie is mostly deemed to be out of line as he is so far outside of her age range and demo. Not had the chance to listen to the audio all the way through, but what I did hear was not even that funny.
More concerned about the comedy fail, than the judgement fail.
