Scott MacIntyre Voted Off American Idol, Judge Kara Diogardi Tried To Save Him

Scott MacIntyre

Paula Abdul and Kara Dioguardi agreed that Scott MacIntyre should stay, however, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson did not. The panel debated whether they should use their "save" vote to keep Scott on the show, but the votes for and against the legally blind contestant were split 50/50 and the 23-year-old singer was sent packing.

After MacIntyre performed Survivor's "The Search Is Over," DioGuardi was spotted gesturing angrily and talking very animatedly with the other judges. DioGuardi kept arguing with Cowell until he called it -- and then she slumped in her seat.

A teary-eyed Abdul called MacIntyre, "an inspiration to the entire world" and "one classy gentleman."

I didn't watch American Idol last night and I can't find video of Scott being voted off - I dunno how upset Kara was - but I am glad that Scott is gone. He is equally scary as he is inspirational and let's be honest, the sympathy vote is what has been keeping him around. The man needs to wear dark sunglasses during all of his performances. There are plenty of stunna shades that he can choose him. Just saying.

I agree, talent should win over pity votes. I am glad he got the coverage he did, but the only criteria to win should be talent.

Scott was the rightful person to leave Idol, and it struck me as though Paula was attempting to avoid any negative backlash (as a result of his disability) on behalf of the judges not exercising their "save" in her words to him after he was eliminated last night.
