Seeking to escape poverty, Slumdog Millionaire's Rubina Ali's father Rafiq Qureshi put his sweet, innocent daughter Rubina Ali, 9, up for adoption to the tune of millions of rupees worth £200,000. He was left a lil too inspired by the film.
Posing as potentially interested buyers, The News of the World went undercover to find out the shocking details. Rafiq said, "I have to consider what's best for me, my family and Rubina's future."
A trust fund for the kids has been to set up to pay for their education and housing set up by the film's producer, Danny Boyle. Rafiq still claims that the family hasn't received anything, blaming Hollywood for putting him in this predicament, Rafiq says that his meal ticket and their family "Got nothing out of this film."
Rafiq's equally demanding brother Mohiuddin insisted: "The child is special now. This is NOT an ordinary child. This is an Oscar child!"
The scheme was revealed to a wealthy family from Dubai that was going undercover for NOTW.
After the plan was revealed, Rubina's mother showed up at Rafiq's house and demanded that her daughter be taken the eff outta that crib. Naturally Rafiq is denying everythang but his second wife said a foreign woman offered to buy Rubina and they turned her down which led to Rubina's mother and her stepmother punching and choking each other out in front of the house! Love it!
The Save the Children organization has asked India to sign up to to the International Labor Organization's convention to help stop the selling of children to the highest bidder.
UPDATE: Rubina's dad denies News of the World's claims!
