Adam Lambert was not only the better singer on American Idol, but he is one of the most vocally talented American Idol competitors in the shows eight year history.
He was the unique guy from San Diego with the big voice, black hair and painted nails. Then, as the weeks went on and the finalist were selected, gay photos of Adam Lambert in drag with tongue-down-throats started leaking onto the internet. Those who didn't see the original Glambert pics need not worry, they were easy to find with a Google search. Then more bloggers posted them; weeks and nearly months later, new gay photos were still surfacing.
TMZ also posted Adam's gay pictures again within days of the American Idol finale. Adam had no closet from which he could emerge from. His sexuality was as ambiguous as Tim Gunn's.
Blog Examiner.com labels Lambert as "polarizing," stating: "Adam was too gay for America."
And the Seattle Times writes: "It's hard to deny that some Idol watches may have indeed cast their vote in a bigoted fashion. But it's also unfair to assume that Kris didn't garner most of his votes by his own efforts."
When Clay Aiken came out of the closet, some of his fans said that they would not have supported him if they had known he's gay. To say that Adam's sexuality cost him the title is irrational, to say that it had nothing to do with his loss is idealistic.
It will be an exiting day when there's no discussion of one's sexuality and each person will be judged upon his or her abilities and character alone.

that day will be awesome, apparently that day isnt today. this site is as much guilty as any of making dumdams sexual choices some how relevant to his winning/losing. if we didnt harp on it, gay/straight would cease to be an issue, oh wait... how would you induce peeps to comment without the controversy then???

I am not sure what the consensus is in the states or to be fair why on TV and certain media his sexuality was ever bought up. He totally lost because of a homophobic media.

Actually, he lost because the other guy got better as the competition went on while Adam was a one trick pony, able to hit (more than occasionally off key) high notes. He was dramatic, he was marketable, but as a singer, just OK..

do be careful there matt, progressive outlooks such as your could get you labeled 'anti-gay'...

I think that either way it's okay. But as a gay man...
I think that it sucks, thanks to the "Hollywood Machine",
a person can't come forth and be 'completely' out and just win
on the talent they truly have. Same game, just a different time.
Amazing job on both their parts :)

I don't watch AI or Miss Anything pagents, but it seems that people are making excuses of why they lost...Lambert because he's gay, Prejean b/c she doesn't support gay marriage...how about getting rid of that self-entitlement crap and just accept that you lost? Life can suck, even on tv.
