Oh no that argument wont work this time Ken B. Adam outshone the others by a mile in most of the shows. But Kris (who seems really likeable) is made in the image of middle america and thats what got him the wider support. To not see Adam's talent is...a bit unbelievable. some may not like his style but to call him "mediocre" sounds false or really a very minority opinion of someone who doesnt know what the word really means.

You know, we have had gay and lesbians in the theater, movies, music, art since Jesus wore short pants! This is nothing new. It's show-biz, for cripes sakes!. I don't know what went wrong here, but it really doesn't matter. Kris is a nice person, but talented? I don't mean just the oatmeal-colored stuff you might hear at your favorite hangout - I mean the real down-in-the-dirt, pay your dues, learn your craft, commitment to excellence talented. Put it in those terms and no, he's not. No where near. He has no vocal technique, he opens his mouth and hopes for the best, he has no stage presence, he doesn't have that burning, excited-to-be-here thing that makes you work your ass off day after day, excuse me, to get one musical phrase just right. Adam consistently, week after week, month after month, gave full-blown, exciting, interesting, artistic and creative performances. Topping himself over and over again. Okay people get real Adam did not loose because he might be gay, he lost because he was born just a couple of generations too late Adam has an 80's hair band voice we all know that. I'd love for him to bring back hair bands and he could do it with his talent, but I do think Kris is the better singer, he knows who he is, always has, he has his own style and never changed it!!!! And sorry adam but kris is far more better looking!!!!

I'm sorry but, though he may be a good guy and enjoyable to go and see, but I'm not buying your story. Are you a family member or something? Out of all the talent that was on "his" season of AI you are going to try and tell me that he deserved to win? Right! And so did Rubben Studdard. Maybe they should make a duet and make beautiful (Anna Nicole Smith reference) music together. Pathetic! Just cause his hair color matches your pubes, doesn't mean squat! Taylor's market audience is senile old women and maybe the odd sheltered inbred. Would Mr. Hicks of won this year? Or last year? DOUBT IT! I haven't been following and yet assumed a fix too. I was like "um, how is it some guys whose name I dunno won?" Was assuming it would be Adam.

Kris was the better "all around" vocal performer by far... Adam leaned far too much on his screaming. He has NO chance of making it "main stream". The only reason you noticed Adam more than Kris is because Adam is "different". Unfortunately, different doesn't sell record contracts... Skill does. Kris has all around great skill and vocal performance!
As for Adam's sexuality, I think it is extremely naive to think that is the reason for him losing the competition. He doesn't appeal to everyone. It has nothing to do with his sexual orientation.

nice of you to miss the point entirely jay, then again perhaps the expectations were a tad higher than they should have been, considering... all i am saying is that due to adams, uh, sexual choices, he became untouchable. if someone simply didnt like his style, voice, look whatev they ran the risk of being heralded an 'anti-gay'. the same voices saying its everyones right to like who they like, except when you DONT like the gay guy, if you dont like him your a homophobe, or a hater blah blah blah. the producers of A.I. took a chance when they pre determined that adam should win this year, as they always do on the eventual winners as it is a business not a contest, this year it didnt pan out the way they intended BUT, because the loser happens to be gay the whole argument is 'colored' with anti gay under and over tones. leave the sex in the room, it has nuthin to do with any of this...

I was responding to the author of this article, regarding HIS comments which I know to be incorrect. Fight for Taylor? Oh that was some clever wording my friend. I don't have to do that, I merely answered the comment that Taylor does not play instruments LIKE Kris, who won Amercan Idol over Adam. That's what I did.
As for having to "fight for Taylor"....No, he's proved that he is one of the most talented singers, musical artists, performers that I've ever had the pleasure to hear in person and I have, quite a few times in fact. @ Firecracker - Not to disagree with you at all, but the scenario (you eluded to) in your comment is certainly feasible, but Adam was leading in a lot of unscientific Idol polls by sizable percentage points leading up to the Idol finale. So wouldn't that scenario be more applicable to if the results were rigged?

Considering that all four Idol judges and millions of viewers were heaping praise on Adam's extraordinary talents throughout the last several weeks (more so than Kris), I am still extremely stunned that Kris won American Idol last night. Adam THOROUGHLY dominated Kris in head-to-head competition in that span of time.
This is 2009 and a large part of the U.S. is still anti-gay in its beliefs, so homophobia may have very well played a role in Adam losing last night. His loss was probably a referendum on how the country feels about someone with his sexuality becoming more powerful and coming into prominence, which is something that older, conservative, etc. viewers haven't come to grips with yet.
Yes, a reason Adam could have also lost Idol was because some people became tired of his screaming and theatrics in the last few weeks. A friend of mine felt that way in her opposition to Adam as well.

You might be the first person I have heard fight for Hicks with so much energy. Hicks was a very likeable guy on the show, but has has nowhere near the talent one would assume you need to win AI. Big deal, he can play the guitar and harmonica. I'm guessing 50 million others in the US can play it just as well as him. Can he sing? Not really! Can he entertain? Ya, somewhat, but I'm sure it gets old pretty quick. I like Hicks as a person on AI but knew he would never be big...IN TERMS OF RECORD SALES, because in the end, thats what the label wants, RECORD SALES. You don't sell records, go play your harmonica and guitar on the street to earn your $$.
The better talent on AI this season was Adam...the most marketable is 100% Kris Allen! That is why he won. I said it before and I was right. Lambert is only going to be marketable with a select group, where as Allen can be marketed for all ages, shapes and colors. This was almost a no brainer. I can't understand why so many

First off, when Taylor Hicks won American Idol, it was no upset. He was NEVER in the bottom three, he was the most popular of ALL the contestants, he won by a landslide. The comment that KRIS and TAYLOR are alike? LMAO, how? Because both of them WON Idol? Come on, "Kris plays instruments and Taylor doesn't?", excuse me? LMAO. Taylor plays the guitar and the harmonica.
The only reason I'm here would be because of Taylor's name on a google alert for this website. Why people are freaked I have no idea, you have to VOTE people, that's what you do, you VOTE for a winner and for your choice. I was rooting for Kris and am glad HE WON! He deserved it. As far as the slam against Taylor Hicks. Do your research before posting untrue statements. Taylor Hicks plays guitar and harmonica very well and is very talented and successful. Success is not decided buy record sales alone.

Okay I know you are beyond distraught but why would American Idol fix the results after skewing the show towards Adam this whole entire season? Yes, the show is rigged, I feel like the producers wanted Adam to win, but even so Kris won. In my eyes that says something.
