Surprise, surprise. Ditzy Republican fame whore Sarah Palin has used the Carrie Prejean debacle to remind us of her stance on gay marriage.
The conservative governor released a statement yesterday where she slammed "the liberal onslaught of malicious attacks" against 21 year-old Carrie.
"I can relate, as a liberal target myself. What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe -- marriage is between a man and a woman. "I applaud for standing with Carrie during this time. And I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's First Amendment Rights.
"Our Constitution protects us all -- not just those who agree with the far left."
Gay people will gain the right to marry within all of our lifetimes. Conservatives better savor these moments when they can spew their prejudice because it's legal. That will all change before we know it.

and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's First Amendment Rights.
Well, isn't that special (tm Churchlady). Must be nice to know that you have a Constitution that protects you because you happen to be a citizen, a taxpaying, law-abiding, automatically equally treated, citizen.
Wonder who's Constitution the gays are living under? Those same gays that, come to think of it, are also citizens, also pay taxes, also law abide, many of whom have given their very lives to protect said document, but, whoopsie, are not automatically an equal citizen. Interesting thought process you have their Ms. Palin.
And damned skippy, change is coming. 'bout damned time too.

Yes, I know the word "their" should be "there"...guess the stupidity burned so brightly is affected my spelling.;-)
Still, it's a travesty to cite the Constitution and simultaneously seek to exclude others from freedoms give immediately to someone else. Appalling....

gays don't need special 'freedoms', they have all the same 'freedoms' as any other human being. all any of us is given is the breath we take in and that's it, the rest is up to us, in every walk of life there are the 20% that persevere and succeed no matter what and the 80% who blame the world for whatever ails them. being gay isn't like being black, fat or noticeably different in any way and its not something that has to be worn on your sleeve or shoved in everyone's face. if a person acts like a normal person they are usually treated normally, which is probably the real issue here. gays want/crave the attention they get by making issues where there really are none, keep your sex in the bedroom where it belongs and just get over it.

... you wrote the last paragraph as if you have a stopwatch out or something. If you do, may I ask, how long do we have left?

Why can't she disagree with gay marriage!? Why can't you people let it go that everyone doesn't agree with you? If I don't want 2 men or 2 women to get married isn't that my choice? Talk about HA8T, take a good look at yourself.

But, see, Ken B, the issue isn't about whom you are having sex with but whom you love, whom you wish to spend your life with, whom you care about. If a gay person NEVER had sex with their partner, they STILL couldn't marry them and share their life fully and legally, with all the benefits of someone who is straight who chooses to not have sex, or chooses to have sex every freakin' day. IT. HAS.NOTHING.TO.DO.WITH.SEX. That's the problem with it, to a large degree. Everyone's all hung up on the "act" and forgetting the people involved. Get the hell over it...rights are rights, it has nothing to do with color, ethnicity, religion, NOTHING, excepting the RIGHT to equal rights under the law. Nutshell.
Keep your beliefs to yourself, in your home, in your bedroom if it's so paramount to your life; but keep.them.the.HELL.out.of.law that affects others. You.do.not.have.that.right.
Whew. It's tiring trying to point out the "obvious".
Sheesh.

jellybelly, she most certainly can disagree with gay marriage; much like I can disagree with only one religion dictating what we all should think. It's allowed.
What she and others CANNOT do is make law to enforce their beliefs alone. Not all believe the same way, and many beliefs infringe on another's rights, rights that those doing the infringing don't seem to have a problem with availing themselves of in an automatic entitlement. That is another part of the issue.
You can't make law only to suit your own belief system. Separation of Church and State is there for a reason. A valid one.
And for the record, I am a Christian. A very committed, heartfelt Christian, that answers to my God alone, a God who values love above all. It's a shame the bastardization that has taken place in His name. So very sad.
I'm sure I'll get flamed for that...but interestingly enough, I don't feel I'll be needing million proof 'screen for an eternity. Perhaps a some should invest, though.;-)
Carry on....I will.

And neither can you, joy. You cannot force your supposed "open-mindedness" on others. It seems that the pro gay marriage crowd are so full of themselves they are as hateful and narrowminded as any anti-gay militant. Which is rather sad. And I couldn't care less about who get married, and not all conservatives are obsessed over gay marriage...taxes on the other hand...
Even gays are bothered by idiots like Perez Hilton and the militant anti-prop 8...they notice how they will trample people who are pretty harmless like Prejean and Mormons but would not come within 100 feet towards the REAL opposers of gay marriage - blacks and hispanics.
