Kris Allen Talks Adam Lambert
Kris Allen, the boring mediocre singer who won American Idol this year, has managed to avoid the limelight and magazine covers like Idol runner-up, Adam. However, Kris did have an interview with Parade.com. Kris was asked if Adam is stealing the spotlight, he is, but Kris doesn't think so.
Kris on Adam Lambert
"Adam is definitely one of those people who garnishes media attention. He's different, and he's something completely different from Idol and so I think he deserves all that stuff. And for me, I'm totally laid back and cool. Being on the cover of Rolling Stone, he had something to say and they wanted to be the ones to say it. That was his way to do that. I don't have any problems with it at all. I think Adam totally deserves it. I don't feel like he's stealing my thunder."

The media is always going to focus on Adam simply because he's contraversial. Adam is fodder for gossip rags & he'll no doubt give them plenty of stories. Kris is just Kris, married, average guy next door. That's boring. Let's face it don't you want to hear about Adam dancing with a dude at a club, kissing a dude, holding hands with a dude, who is Adam now dating, cross-dressing, etc., that's a heck of a lot more interesting than any story about Kris Allen.
We really don't need another Elvis. There was only one and there are plenty of impersonators in Vegas and some of them are really fantastic. Most of the young folks don't give a rat's a** about Elvis, his fans are in their late 60s for the most part. Now there will never be another Freddie Mercury and his voice is far superior to Adam Lambert. Why be a Freddie wannabee?
Adam is not the best thing ever to hit the music business in years. I don't see any originality there. I see those kinds of performances all the t

Coco, I think you are absolutely right.
Personally, I am an Adam fan all the way. He is, I think, the best performer and singer this planet has ever seen or heard. I'm 43, so I have seen and heard a lot! lol
Personally, I think Kris looks and sounds very common. Nothing distintive about him.
But there is a very wide public for Kris's style. And there is also a very wide public for Adam's style. I think both of them will do very well. Of course, I hope Adam becomes the next Elvis, and I don't reallt care what happens to Kris's career. Not cos I don't like the guy, but just cos I am not into that style. It's like I am happy Madonna always did so well, and I don't give a second thought to Keith Urban: because I like Nadonna's style but not Urban's. But I have nothing agains Urban the man. See my point?
I think it is absolutely wonderful that Adam and Kris became such good friends. Adam is definately not trying to steal Kris thunder, cos he don't need to. And Kris don't feel that Ad

They are both fulfilling their particular destinies in their own way. They are two different kinds of performers. as well as very different individuals, and yet they have forged a friendship out of their similarities. They support each other, and are gracious in victory and defeat. We would all benefit to follow their example.
Because Adam is a spectacular, flamboyant, charismatic performer, so he will always draw the limelight, the headlines, the paparazzi.
Kris is a quiet, laid back, subtly nuanced performer, with a beautiful voice. He will not draw the headlines or the frantic paparazzi, but I believe he will have a solid career which suits his style and talent.
Their is no reason to denigrate or belittle either young man.

He's not an idiot. He's this year's winner. He doesn't need to work at it like Adam does.

...if he does not see that he is being outshone, he may be an idiot as well as being mediocre. Oh dear.
