I think selling tickets for Michael Jackson's memorial service is entirely fair. Michael Jackson is legendary and he won't have any standard funeral.
When the King of Pop dies, things should be different. Furthermore, ticket sales will raise a lot of money for the Jackson estate, which may or may not be hundreds of millions of dollars in debt.
Michael Jackson's memorial service at the Staples Center costs $25. Family, friends and VIPS will have seats on the mail floor, while the general public will have to pay $25 each for a seat in the stands.
The memorial service will feel like a concert production featuring guest speakers, a lot of music and video screens inside and outside of Staples. Michael Jackson's close friend Elizabeth Taylor is expected to attend, along with Diana Ross.
T-shirts that were going to be sold on Michael's upcoming "This Is It" tour will be sold outside Staples to people entering the service. The service will be held between 10am PST and noon PST.
This is gonna be televised, right?! It has to be, no question. MJ will be smiling down when he sees the lavish memorial that his family and friends coordinate.

If this is true, I find it utterly disgusting! Do they think Michael's memorial service is a fucking concert or something. Excuse my language, but way too many people are already profiting off of Michaels death as it is and it is upsetting to me. I think it's inappropriate.

@ Firecracker - I have to respectfully disagree with you on this issue.
On one hand, I can understand why they would be charging for memorial tickets, due to the high costs of renting Staples Center, paying for area security (at a time when the city of L.A., Cali and this country are in the midst of a recession, etc.). However, I'm sure the Jackson family is collectively flush with money already and they can easily pay for the expenses incurred out of their own pockets. Money earned from those tickets would only make a small fraction in paying for MJ's mountaineous debt anyways.
This just all wreaks of tackiness to me and it's in very poor taste to charge or for one to pay to attend a public memorial or funeral service!

This is bogus info...all of the 17,500 tickets are being given away by a lottery system. There is no charge for getting a ticket. You just have to be lucky.
