Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, was found dead this afternoon in his New York City apartment.

A friend arrived at Adam's apartment to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his door. The friend then called the police, who entered and found his body.
DJ AM, 36, survived a plane crash with Travis Barker in South Carolina in September of 2008.
Adam was always said to be an extremely nice, down to earth individual. The talented DJ had battled drug addiction and obesity in the past, but had successfully overcome his addiction.
Drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
How tragic! Adam will truly be missed.

eff him. if he wanted to dabble with drugs and got in over his head, eff him. why feel even a bit sorry for him when he did it to himself? whos cares if he had problems, frekin everyone has problems but not everyone seeks solace in drugs, alcohol or other self destructive behaviors. jesus, theres a reason its called SELF DESTRUCTIVE behavior! do drugs, die and when you do die NO ONE should ever say 'what a shame' or 'thats so sad'. what is that telling young people? rather than say how unfortunate and tragic it is when someone dies doing something wrong, we should say 'if you play you pay' . he did drugs, he died period. world is actually better off without another drug user, perhaps all drug users should od. of course then bloggers the worl over would have the biggest hey day ever cause of course it would be tragic and all societies fault....

Actually, Ken, Adam was a former addict who had been clean for over 9 years. When he got the burn injuries from the plane crash, he probably needed a lot of pain medication to deal with that. The pain medication may have triggered him becoming addicted all over again. It is always so easy for people to sit back and judge, but a lot of people forget that addiction is a disease, an illness.

wasnt judging, that require that i care. if he had a problem prior that still doesnt make doing drugs ok so we still shouldnt feel bad that he died FROM DRUGS. perhaps if he had NEVER STARTED doing drugs he wouldnt have needed to recover from anything. hes no different from a crack whore in the gutter, who died from illegal and immoral drugs... feeling sorry for dj dumb ass sends the message to our kids that doing drugs is ok, in moderation cause ya dont wanna die after all ya jus wanna have fun... still not sure how recovering from burns and taking pain meds has any connection to the CRACK pipe found in his room but i'm sure you'll explain that away too... he was probably a patient of michael jacksons dr also so it must all be his fault.... now the world is going to suffer a vacume in the world of music as two musical genius' have been robbed from us too early, oh what will the world be without them...

Wasn't implying that it was ok to use drugs, just that the man was sincerely trying to get his life back together.Sure, maybe he should never have become involved with drugs in the first place, but unfortunately he did. And then he got got clean and then he stayed that way for 9 years. Who knows the trauma he experienced after that crash? That is why this is so sad to me.The post traumatic stress disorder alone is enough to drive anyone over the brink and if you are a former drug addict, it probably makes you that much more vulnerable to becoming addicted again. Not explaining anything away either , but if he became addicted to the prescription pain killers after his plane crash (and we are talking 3rd degree burns here!), they would naturally have become the gateway back to crack for him as a former addict. I'm not saying the guy should be some role model and hero to kids, but there is nothing at all wrong with having a little compassion for somebody. Sometimes you've got to look a little bit deeper than just what you see on the surface of a situation.

sad/tragic are the stories of the thousands of this nations young men who gave thier lives in the sands of nowhere fighting for nothing. the death of a poor lil rich dude who in his life got skinny, got famous, banged some really hot chicks, spun some great tunes and then threw it all away stupidly is niether sad or tragic its pathetic. there is simply no reason strong enough to justify any remorse for this worthless waste of life. once again, the world is better now with at least one less week, pitifull loser amoung us.

Ken, please get over your self-righteous self! When is the last time you've sent a care package over to a young soldier in Afghanistan? When is the last time you've personally thanked a soldier for putting his life on the line for you? When is the last time you went and visited an injured soldier in a veterans hospital? Or sat down and wrote a letter to a soldier in Iraq to thank him for his service to his country? Never? THOUGHT SO! So don't sit there and act like you suddenly give a shit about the "young men who gave their lives in the sands of nowhere fighting for nothing" when you are really just using them to justify your pathetic argument for why we should not have "any remorse for this worthless waste of life." That is lame and played out! Peace!

Lola,
I don't know what's wrong with Ken B. He used to attack me, but he'd always come here. He took a break and now he's back to terrorize again.
It is very unfortunate that DJ AM's pain killers brought him back to drugs, something he fought so hard to stay away from for 11 years. It is too tragic for words. He survived his plane crash, but it killed him in the end. He was a genius and many will miss him forever.
RIP, Adam.

wow, i didnt realize that not automatically agreeing with the status quo was akin to terrorism, or perhaps by your terrorism is my hypocrisy... i do actually thank soldiers personally guite frequently but thats is not the point. dj dumbass is no different than the 25 crack whores who died of drug od just while i write this. where is the outpouring of sympathy for them? because this guy had his face on some mag covers and his name is recognized doesnt mean we KNEW him, any more than we KNOW any celebrity. the leap from pain meds to crack is pretty extreme, and also a cop out for weakness. i have never attacked anyone here or anywhere else, perhaps a different opinion is considered an attack by those who are really the narrow minded one pointing at others and calling hypocrite. this guy tried to sue everyone after the crash, started using drugs again and died, because he was famous we should all follow the proper guide line and propose saint hood for him. i phil specter was responsible for some of the greatest achievements in music but all i ever hear about him is he was a creepy guy that killed a girl, why should we immortalize a drug user any other way? now that travis has tweeted about how wonderfull dj dumbass was now we should all love him but are we supposed to overlook the source completly? travis is a piece of wife beating shit that jus so happens to be a great drummer. unless talent outweighs all else... perhaps, if you have a talent at something it actually allows failures in other aspects of life to be overlooked.... so, when oj dies we will only tell stories of how amazing he was on the field and all smile....

DJ AM died of a drug overdose, but to try to minimize his life, talent, achievements and all that he has done for recovering addicts is pathetic! His life is far different than that of some random crack whores.
You don't have to mourn one's death or feel sorry for anyone, and you also don't have to knock someone who has sympathy for someone you don't care about.
Everyone knows that Adam was a former addict, but that seems to be the ONLY thing you wanna focus on which is fucking stupid. And if you know anything about history, many of the people who've made the most contributions to those around the world were deeply flawed.
If you're going to talk about DJ AM's problems, you should mention his triumphs and contributions as well. If not, you're just continuing to talk out of your ass.
