Simon Cowell: American Idol Contract Extended for Three Years
American Idol is sexist. Its producers wanted to pay Paula Abdul much less than Simon, Randy and Ryan. Why?!
Idol fans love Paula and if there's anyone who doesn't need to be on the judging panel, it's Randy DAWG Jackson and, of course, Kara DioGuardi.
Fox is now paying Simon Cowell $45 million a year, $9 million more than his current annual paycheck of $36 million. Simon will also be making more than 3x the amount that Paula was seeking ($10 million/year). And Randy reportedly makes close to $30 million. Yo yo yo. That's not fair, dawg!
Meanwhile Ryan Seacrest will be paid $15 million a year for three years. I commend Paula for taking a stand for pay equality.

Yep. Definitely sexist. If even Randy is making $30 million for doing the same job as Paula, than that's some BS right there.

I gotta disagree about Kara, FC. She turned out to be great on the program last season, and sans attitude, she at least adds constructively to the program.
I think AI's decision not to bring back Paula is LESS about sexism than it is that they don't wanna deal with her baggage anymore. But from a financial standpoint, it definitely is not fair and equitable when compared to her AI peers' salaries, and people who are mistreated like that in other lines of work would be outraged too.

I was shocked by the numbers too. I can't imagine Idol without Paula. She balances out all that ego and testosterone and she argues with Simon and it's entertaining. Kara, on the other hand, is more of a groupie for the show who tries to out-sing contestants.
I keep hoping that the producers will work something out and bring Paula back.

Now that I see the scale that is bullshit!!! I don't blame her for leaving but dare I say she was truely the best part of the show?? She will be fine but I would be pissed too!!!
