Barack Obama: 'Kanye West is a Jackass!'

Barack Obama said that Kanye West is a jackass. The President of the United States, yes, I typed out Barack's title for emphasis, was conducting an interview with ABC reporter Terry Moran when Moran tweeted:

"Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a "jackass" for his outburst at the VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential."

Barack Obama calls Kanye West

The White House did not respond to the off-the-record leak from Terry, but his Tweet was immediately deleted. ABC issued a statement, saying:

"ABC News employees prematurely Tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview."

I love it! This story made my night last night when I heard about it on Twitter. I also love that "jackass" is a kinder way of saying "f*cking a*shole." I don't use it at all, but whenever I hear "jackass" being used, that's what I take it as.

Hey Kanye, George Bush doesn't care about black people and Barack Obama doesn't care about jackasses. Sucks to be you.

@Guardian - Nothing is nonsense about on- and off-the-record in journalism at all. It is a practice that perhaps has been around pretty much since the inception of journalism and it's something that most journalists take very seriously on a daily basis.

Comments qualify as on-the-record only when the journalist and interview subject reach an agreement in advance in terms of whether the remarks expressed will be part of an interview setting (on-the-record) or something expressed casually "off-the-cuff" (off-the-record).

With that said, Terry Moran disseminated comments from President Obama that were apparently made separately from the actual interview process. An interview agreement between reporter and subject violated by the reporter. I am cutting Obama some slack that he wouldn't have made those comments outside of that agreement (if he knew they would be broadcast), too.

So, in a sense, betrayal on the part of Moran that he used the president's comments when he was und

SO... as a president he's not allowed to to express his opinions?
It just goes to show he's a human being....

Terry Moran did nothing wrong. This nonsense about off the record is just that nonsense. You, Craigmackk may think there is a time when that might be true but, anything that is said is fair game. The person making the comment may not like it, too bad. You don't want something published don't say it. Flint hit the mark about potus, he's the real jackass / jackoff for commenting about kanye.

Presidents are allowed to express opinions outside of their presidential duties. They can't all be factory robots. Maybe he shouldn't have expressed "jackass" to a journalist of all people, though.

But, if anything, Terry Moran shares equal jackass status with Kanye for publishing an off-the-record quote from an interview subject. As someone like myself who is a journalist, this is a cardinal sin and a breach of ethics in our industry..

I would say potus is the jakass for making inapproiate commentary concerning events outside potus. As a public figure he has the ultimate bully pulpit and needs to stop misusing it. Not enough crow to eat when you misspoke about your buddy from harvard?

That's awesome: a president who is straightforward and locked into pop culture. My kind of prez! Now if only Obama can sentence Kanye to hard labor at those Tea Party protests :0
