Always the charismatic, sexy joker, President Barack Obama addressed former President Jimmy Carter's comments about Americans being racist toward Barack.
Barack said that he was actually black before the election. Then David asks him how long he's been black, and it's pretty hilarious.
As an African-American, I can say that Barack must know that some of the venom directed toward him is because of his ethnicity, but he's not dumb enough to say so publicly. White people put Barack Obama in office. He wouldn't be there without the votes from all races, so he's not going to ostracize his supporters by making generalized statements about an entire race.
Well done, Barack!

I totally agree that there are stupid ignorant people off all colors in this nation. There are whites who hate black and blacks who dispise whites and so on and so forth. People who pick at race are truly ignorant on so many levels I don't have time to get into it! With that said, I think it is so ridiculous that the minute people start talking smack about Obama's policy and his crediblity it automatically becomes a racism issue. Personally, there is a lot I don't agree with him on and it has nothing to do with the shade of his skin. I think that is just a very weak argument and the easy way out instead of analyzing what he says and does. I am sure there are people out there like that but that is so few and far between. This country will never be progressive when it comes to race if the word RACIST is used the minute people of different skin tones have an argument!

Notice how Barack deftly didn't answer Letterman's question in regards to Jimmy Carter in a direct way? While Obama probably agrees with Carter, racism is a deeply complex and polarizing issue and I feel he didn't want to alienate himself from the former president by addressing what he said specifically.
Smart, shrewd move by the Barackster!

@ Mr. Gyllenhaal,
I agree with everything you said and I think that's why Barack's administration is trying to let Carter's comments die.
Regardless of who dislikes Barack for whatever reason, white supporters put him in office.
Throwing around the 'racist' label is divisive and harmful and it distracts us all from the issues at hand. I know a lot of black people who say someone is "racist" for just about everything - you name it. It's hilarious and stupid!
I'm glad that Barack isn't doing any whining about it cause that's counterproductive to his job and distracts us from our nation's ongoing issues that need some resolve.
