Ellen DeGeneres will be replacing Paula Abdul on American Idol. So what exactly are Ms. Degeneres' credentials?
She says, "I have not missed one episode," she loves to dance, and she frequently sings off key. I smell some sh*t and it came from a bull, y'all, cause this is some straight bullsh*t!
After the audition rounds, which will feature celebrity judges, Ellen will fill Paula's seat beginning in January.
At yesterday's taping of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen announced, "I've been dying to tell everyone. It's just been so hard to keep it a secret and we just finally got the OK and I'm so excited. It is going to be so much fun."
Music is not this woman's area of expertise and she's probably going to try to be funny. American Idol isn't the right fit for Ellen's snarky sarcastic genius. She thinks that judging will "be so much fun," but how fun will it be when she doesn't have an ear for music? And to think that Paula couldn't get the money that you know Idol will be paying Ellen. I guess this is a lame attempt for Idol producers to spike ratings and prove that they're not sexist. Can I vote Ellen off the show?

Ellen DeGeneres Says 'I'm the new American Idol Judge'

I love Ellen, but this is so stupid. She should just focus on her own show. What is she being paid? If it's more than what they were paying Paula, eff those AI jokers!

Ellen's Idol salary has got to be more than Paula was even asking for.
Ellen is rich and she's taking on "a day job and a night job" now. She wouldn't be doing that for pennies.
This is really ridiculous. I feel sorry for Ellen. The critics will probably slam her and she'll feel awkward and it won't be "so much fun" afterall.
Some ideas are better left on paper.

I love Ellen, but she should spend her evenings banging her hawt wife Porche and leave the AI judging to Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell and what's her name . . . oh yeah, nobody.

Ellen was a guest judge on FOX's So You Think You Can Dance (while you were in Europe, FC), and I think that's probably why the network chose her on those merits. But does that make her qualified to be a judge on American Idol?
Nope.
Granted, Kara (who's polarizing and not that well-liked by viewers) and Paula had their faults, but at least they have the musical background necessary to critique contestants.
This is definitely an out-of-the-box, yet bad move by FOX. Selecting a big celeb name with gravitas to viewers was probably foremost on the network exec's minds. However, I have a feeling she will not provide any spark to the judges' panel whatsoever and will turn out to be yet another vanilla judge like Paula as far as her lack of criticizing the contestants are concerned. And time will tell whether Ellen will have any chemistry with her fellow judges, which should have been thoughts raised in FOX's selection process too.
Bold and risky move for all parties involved. It will likely take Ellen time to become assimilated on the show, as well.
And what's next on the horizon: Susan Boyle judging a swimsuit competition?...

I totally agree with this article.....Ellen was the complete wrong choice for AI. Paula was great on this show, she was the heart of it, now it's just going to suck!! No Paula, No american Idol.
