He's not the only one! American Idol lost eccentric crackhead Paula Abdul and they've been bringing in A-listers to fill the void. So far, the roster of celebrity guest judges this season includes Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry and Shania Twain.
But the HBIC is gone and so are all of Paula's slurred comments, arguing and random dancing. Simon Cowell said, American Idol is "different. It's like comparing a carrot to a banana."
Though the judge says he doesn't want to "get in the middle" of Idol execs and Abdul, 47, he says, "I miss her."
He adds that Abdul is "someone who will always work."
I still can't believe that Paula's crazy won't be a part of this season. American Idol will feel SO strange!

I am not going to watch this season!! I bet ratings are down overall. Mark my words! It won't be as good!

To TV audiences (and ahem, Simon), American Idol will appear different since she was a staple and that viewers were accustomed to viewing her on the show. But in watching the show in previous seasons, it's not like she added anything much valuable in terms of criticism of contestants.
Granted, Paula's antics made for great TV on Idol, but ultimately that's not the show's true purpose, though. It's all about criticisms from the judges, the critiques directed towards contestants, and hearing their respective singing on stage.
Paula became somewhat of a sideshow after a while and I think it detracted from AI. She did have great chemistry with her fellow judges and Seacrest, though. In the long run, the show will flow more smoothly without Paula.
Time for AI to move forward...

Just to abut my first post, people partially tune in to Idol for the judges' personalities BUT people can still be interesting without the unnecessary craziness from those like Paula, who made it all about her to some extent during her stint on the show.
I mean, look at Pop Idol and Britain's Got Talent: both shows are formulaic and have managed to flourish successfully without shiz from the judges.

I love paula abdul!!! she is like my idol! American Idol will lose a lot of ratings cause of this. I, for one will never watch the show AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! Kara adds nothing! Dont u guys agree??
