Fergie To Become Co-Owner Of Miami Dolphins

As if the Miami Dolphins don't have enough celebrity owners, they're adding another one to the list. Fergie is rumored to be investing in the team as a co-owner.

Fergie To Co-Own Miami Dolphins

According to reports, NFL owners voted this week to approve Fergie as an investor in the team, but the deal isn't complete yet. Don't do it Fergie! Don't invest in a football team that sucks *ss!

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said he's had discussions with Fergie about the deal, but because the Peas are currently touring Australia, he's not yet gotten her signature.

Why do celebrities have to stick their nose in everybody's biz like buying into sports teams? Invest in music programs in schools or open a frickin food pantry. I dunno, just do something more productive than handing money to a sports team that has millions of dollars. Part of the deal to investing in the Dolphins is making appearances at the stadium during games "as part of Ross' effort to attract a more diverse crowd." Um hello, it's Miami, isn't it diverse enough?

I have to slightly disagree with you, Snarky.

Despite its record, the Dolphins are actually a decent NFL team so far this season with a quarterback of the future (Chad Hemme), and they managed to beat the Jets on MNF this week. They were competitive but with a close loss with the hot Colts earlier this season, too. However, Miami will be dismantled when they face the Saints in a couple weeks IMO, though.

Anyway, on the field aside, it seems like Fergie wants to jump on the bandwagon of the celeb owners who own the Dolphins. First, Will.i.Am wanted to try out for that team and now Fergie is set to be an owner?

Maybe both in part for publicity reasons, but both sure appear to love that particular football team!

    I love this post, hun.

Celebrities should work to give back and they should spend their money on projects that will actually contribute something positive to the people and communities that could use their help!!!!

No one has to do anything, I think celebs 'should' give, but if they don't wanna do charity work, they shouldn't throw their money out there solely so they can make more $$ and promote themselves in the process.

Just stick with what you've got instead of a singer like Fergie co-owning a damn football team.

Too many celebrities are so greedy, and there aren't enough humanitarians out there. We can count on one or two hands how many celebs actually contribute anything at all.

Snarky raises good points in her post, but nobody has ever said that celebrities are well-grounded, down-to-earth individuals right? Many of them are well-endowed with so much money in their bank accounts due to their fame that I feel they don't think pragmatically like the average person by doing (as) much in a philanthropic sense. They just want to further enhance their own celebrity stautses/lifestyles.

After all, to quote Fergie in one of her songs, some celebs probably find their particular actions in donating to non-essential causes to be "glamorous" for themselves...
