Adam Lambert Admits He Got Carried Away

Adam Lambert had a lot of explaining to do this morning on CBS' The Early Show. The glam rocker opened up on what was going on upstairs when he got sexual on stage during his American Music Awards performance.

On WTF happened:

"I admit, I did get carried away... I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was just to interpret the lyrics to my song and have a good time up there."

On being a horny performer:

"ABC was taken a little by surprise -- and that wasn't my intention. I wasn't being sneaky. It got the most of me."

On de-virginizing (my word) the young eyes of children who were watching:

"Honestly, it didn't cross my mind ... children. It was almost 11 o'clock. It was a nighttime show. I was there in the audience full of mostly adults."

On being controversial and divisive:

"Like Idol, I have the tendency to divide people. Apples and oranges. You either like it or you don't."

On possibly toning it down in the future:

"I will probably make more of a little bit more of an effort to stay consistent with what I do during rehearsal to what I do during the show. That is something I am learning. That way, if anyone has any problems with what I am doing, that can be explored during rehearsal."

On why viewers should be open-minded about him as a performer:

"I hope people don't put me in a box and say, 'Oh, he's nasty and he's going to be that way all the time!' It was one performance."

What happened to the days when Rock Stars didn't care what people thought of them?

    Adam, DON'T BE SO APOLOGETIC!

YOU'RE the one that is expected to do things "out of the norm". Believe it or not, people would prefer you just to be yourself. You know, it's funny how the tables have turned. Rock Stars use to be the ones preaching to the fans about "rising up to the occasion" the way I am doing it to you! Who knows, with a little drama like you demonstrated it might actually inspire people to rise up out of their own drudgery and do something cool, fun and impetuous.
