Adam Lambert: AMA Performance Was a Disaster
Adam Lambert is probably my favorite American Idol contestant in the show's history, but that doesn't mean I should give him props even when he sucks. Adam Lambert's American Music Awards performance was a Broadway spectacle meets Chip 'n Dale act.
He was trying too hard to do whatever it is he was trying to do. His set was busy and it was a hot mess. He actually allegedly falls down around the 1:40 mark and then he has some gay makeout action taking place around the 3:20 mark. And Out magazine accused him of not being gay enough?!
What irked me the most was Adam's final "note." It was pathetic. We know that you can sing, but you don't have to showcase your entire range in the final seconds of your performance to remind us of that. Sigh.

Didn't watch last season of Idol but I know who Lambert is from the show's promos. Saw the AMA performance and was blown away! That was smoking hot IMO and I'm a 47 year old hetero female. Have now watched all Adam's Idol performances on the net and the young man has a powerhouse voice and is exquisitely talented. I just got his CD and it is great! The AMA performance made me a fan and I have no doubt there are ALOT of others who are now fans as well. Adam has a brilliant career ahead of him and I look forward to watching him grow as a performer.

To those who responded: do you have to follow everyone's line of reasoning! His performance was not a gay performance people. It was a glam rocker performance with sex undertones. If you listen to the lyrics of the song, you'd understand why he did what he did. I loved it! People, listen to his responses to criticism: he is not going to apologize for something that a girl wouldn't be punished for doing. As for childen, no child should've been up that late on a school night, so I can see why he didn't factor them in. He is a great performer and singer (to those of you who say otherwise, until I see some talent from you, don't criticize others). He's amazing and will continue to improve. GO ADAM!!!!

Disgusted and still am disgusted this evening. I loved Adam on AI. This performance should have never been scene on TV. I feel really sorry for the parents who's children where watching this mess. We know he is gay and proud of it, whatever you do in your home is your own biz. Do you think he ever thought that there are people out there dont want to see porno on prime time tv. Im sorry to say I wont be supportive of adam any longer. I think he lost alot of fans after last night. Also wanted to say shame on you abc and dick clark productions, I think you should be fined.

If some people don't buy Adam's CD because they didn't like his performance then they are going to miss out on a masterpiece. This album is unbelievable. It is the first time in my life that I have ever loved all of the songs on a cd. "BROKEN OPEN" is my favorite. It is so vocally exquisite it will bring tears to your eyes. I think Adam is trying to please all of the people all of the time. We all know thats impossible.

I couldn't watch....I turned it off after about the first 60 seconds. I don't even know if I want to watch it. I think this guy is going to end up a nobody, your 15 minutes are up, has-been if he keeps that sort of crap up!

Hey DUDE, we all know you are gay - leave it to your private moments. What are you trying to prove? I was interested in your singing, not what you are able to do with your hormones on the stage. That was a really stupid decission - don't you have a professionals who tell you what to do and what not? YAH, YOU REALLY SHOCKED US ALL! REALLY? Now maybe you may get shocked how many fans you just lost! Concentrate on singing dude - you may still redeeme yourself. Next time - THINK!!! with your braine though!
If I can give you one more advice - try to look more sexy - you looked like a drag - and that is definitely not sexy. Your show was completelyTURN OFF for me! Still wondering - was that singing?

Felling sad for Adam Lambert. What a mess for his first big performance. Too bad he didn't just sing a great song and let everyone enjoy his talent. I was a huge fan, but not so sure now. I understand he wants to be current, and "hip" but please! I was so hoping he would be fabulous! He can be, he certainly is talented. Not so sure about his taste level. I just feel very let down. Ah well---

At the end of the evening... people are talking about one thing - how gay he is. People don't talk about Elton John that way. That's because Elton John can actually sing. This guy is a flash in the pan glitter boy who is more concerned about being a gay performer than a singer. The sad thing is he can neither perform nor sing. Sorry kiddees, but it's a fact. It was a jacked up Britney performance but without her popularity to help him through it. If he's going to take that route, the song sure as heck better be a good one and that one - just sucked. GaGa- the performance sucked and the crotch out on the piano bench scene was absurd and kind of a reminder for people to wear condoms and avoid STD's, but at least her voice was good. Rihanna is going through a shock phase, is beginning to sound like a broken record - but wasn't that bad though. JLo - not sure what the big deal was. She took a boxing theme instead of a sexual theme to a relationship breakup song. Nice for a chan

Adam didn't do anything really that other artists haven't already done on stage. How easily we forget. The AMA evening was filled with crotch-grabbing and sexual inuendos, and it's sad that entertainers think they have to do this to sell their music. I would buy Adam Lambert's album because he can really sing his face off, and he is a wonderful interpreter of song. I hope this shockwave will pass and he will be given many more opportunities to share his music with the world. His debut album is amazing, and he deserves a chance at success.
