It's no secret that Britney Spears does her fair amount of lip-synching during her concerts, which I think is total fraud. I don't know if she sings any part of her concerts live, and frankly, I don't plan on going to any of her shows to find out.
Britney is currently in Australia for her Circus tour and Virginia Judge, who is the Minister for Fair Trading for New South Wales, wants to make sure Brit's fans know what they're paying for. She's even thinking about requiring disclaimers on promotional material and tickets stating that parts of the show are pre-recorded.
"It is Britney's 'prerogative' to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front."
Oh lay off of Britney, Virginia. People really don't care if she's lip-synching as long as she's giving a good show. Her fans wouldn't care if she sang nothing at all and just had an interpreter for the deaf doing sign language while Brit dances around the stage.

Okay, part of the thrill of me watching a favorite band or musician performing live is the fact that the respective singers can authentically recite notes in front of a crowd on-stage.
Britney is rightfully taking backlash for lip-synching in this instance in Australia. Not only has Britney been cheating many of her fans for several years whom invest their hard-earned money to watch her recite a note live, she is increasingly coming across as a fake as well.
Granted, many still attend these shows for the overall entertainment value minus lip-synching. Maybe it is also a slight overreaction for someone from a high-powered position in Australia to speak out and become involved, but singers should at least clamp down on their lip-synching actions already.
Regardless of whether their voices are screwed up or not, it's still selfish for them to sing to a track on their part, considering the sacrifices their fans make to come to their shows. I mean, after all, most anyone can imitate their favorite singers who lip-sync by going somewhere to sing karaoke - or by singing to the radio while in the shower.
Hopefully, this news at least makes some musicians take a second-glance at themselves - and for the floodgates to open for change. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Duh, Britney lip-syncs! Who are these people that think she doesn't and have they been living in a cave? She has been doing this for years and to expect something different from her now is kind of naive. I say this as a whole-hearted Britney fan too. I went to her Circus show in Dallas and I don't know if she sang any of it and frankly, don't care. It was entertaining and I feel I more than got my money's worth. To quote John Mayer, "If you're shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you".

i know she lip-syncs! most people do...i think she may sing some of her songs live if shes not flat out dancing,and i wouldn't even care if she doesn't hit the right note every time i'm going to her adelaide show and im thrilled shes even coming here most band/singers don't even bother pink comes every time,beyonce usually does too and to tell you the truth im kinda excited that she's just in the country let alone coming to my city where i can see her live in the flesh, which lets face it its taken her about 14 or so years to get here and she may never come back,so as long as she puts on a bloody good show and i have a bloody good time i don't see a huge problem with it, would i prefer her to sing completely live like pink and beyonce of course, but i cant wait to see the one of the worlds biggest stars crackin that whip and grindin those poles!!!! i mean come on IT'S BRITNEY BITCH!!!

I was not born yesterday, and of course I know Britney has lip-synced for several years as well, too! I just place a high importance in live singing at shows. Performance values are all subjective with everyone, though.
