Adam Lambert: Jimmy Kimmel and New Year's Rockin' Eve Performances Canceled

Is this homophobia at its worst or is ABC simply trying to protect itself from the big bad FCC? Adam Lambert's Good Morning America performance was canceled and Adam believes that ABC's decision to pull the plug on his upcoming appearances was made because of FCC pressure. Adam posted the following Tweets yesterday:

However, the Los Angeles Times reports that Glambert is completely wrong. The FCC does not monitor programming after 10 p.m. Additionally, Adam Lambert's AMA performance took place at 10:55 p.m.

"The FCC has determined that there is a reasonable risk that children will be in the audience from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., local time. Therefore, the FCC prohibits station licensees from broadcasting indecent material during that period."

Interesting! I don't think there's enough evidence that this is homophobia. Let us not forget that Janet Jackson's Super Bowl incident, which aired on CBS, caused mass hysteria and excessive censoring on network and cable television networks and radio stations. Britney and Madonna also shared a quick kiss on cable television. Adam's sex show was on network TV. Different networks. Different consequences. This is so sad, though. Adam is a new artist and he should be allowed to grow as an artist and person by proving that he can be trusted to perform.

I will not watch the NYEve show either with Ryan Seacreast I hear Kelly Pickler is going to be on with him...I will wait on Adam to do something...

Adam is the most exciting singer since ELVIS. The network needs to get over themselves. The kids should have been in BED. The SOAPS do more on a daily basis than he did. I will not watch the New Years Eve special with Ryan Seacrest.

Here's the link to Pink's performance:

    It happens around 1:25.

Actually, Pink did the same crotch move in 2004 on the Billboard Music Awards, which aired on FOX, another network TV station. You can find it on Youtube, I think. She sings, "Open your mouth, give me your tongue" to her male dancer, he wags his tongue at her, and she takes his head and puts it in right in her crotch.

So, maybe it really is homophobia.

The L.A. Times says Adam hit the stage at 10:55 p.m. Eastern.

Adam Lambert was really cocky after his performance saying "I'm not the babysitter," and "It's apples and oranges." Now he's paying for it. I still love him tho.

ABC is overreacting and I'm wondering how long this is going to go on for? I'm not so sure that apologizing at this point will stop the network from canceling his gigs.

I, too, can't make the homophobia argument, either. Agreed. No single female performer has done everything he did in a single performance on a network show that I can think of. Once someone has, then I think we can throw the homophobia card out there.

This is a really tough lesson for Adam to learn. :(

I believe his performance aired just before ten o'clock in the central time zone, so yeah, he did squeak in under the time limits.

I don't think it's homophobia, honestly. I think they are pissed that he showed such ungraciousness, lewd behavior (in some parts), and then flipped the bird. Doesn't matter if that part was shown, as THEY saw it. Then he proceeded to accuse them of discrimination if the edited him; bad move. It's really just a case of the big dog letting the puppy know he can't wag the dog, ya know?

Adam needs to give a sincere mea culpa instead of this arteest stuff, admit he may have overstepped (he kinda did this already, but it doesn't feel sincere to the suits, I guess), and then just move on. Don't say much else, don't hint he did nothing to provoke the situation, don't piss off the mouse.:-)

It's all a power play...especially if money is an issue.

And dude? Next time? Sing better, eh?
