Did anyone see this one coming? Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes will be filing for divorce.
Both born in Reading, England, their relationship wasn’t a power struggle. Both of them are Oscar winners! Kate won the Best Actress award in 2009 for The Reader and Sam was named Best Director in 2000 for American Beauty.
Sam and Kate’s lawyers issued the following statement: “Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”
Kate, 34, and Sam, 44, have a son Joe, 6, and Kate has a daughter, Mia, 9, from her previous marriage. I wonder what happened? Kate seems like the full package and like such a kind sweetheart. Breakups are hard enough and I don’t even update my relationship status on Facebook ever, but can you imagine having to give a press release on your divorce? Kate and Sam would gush about each other to the media, but they appeared to be fairly private people.
I wish them both the best of luck. And Kate, Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t married. Us psycho Titanic fans won’t mind if you two get something started.
