Charice Pempengo: Botox Cutie?

Charice Pempengo, 18, has signed on to join the cast of Glee next season. Her voice is unwavering and powerful and she has talent to spare, and some fat in her face, too, allegedly.

The Filipina singer was featured on Ellen DeGeneres' show and Oprah's talk show and she recently released her debut album. But news of Charice's 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening procedure and Botox injections to narrow her frying pan face has shocked people, to say the least.

It's Charice's team's fault everyone is upset. She only had the procedure, which was done by celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo, filmed in front of the cameras! The smoking gun is what Belo says as she touches Charice's face, "It's like a ball, so we are going to Botox that in order to get it flat so she will have a cuter face ... we want to give you the apple cheek look because it's cute, right?"

Charice's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, said in an e-mail Monday the Botox was "absolutely not cosmetic," and added said the treatment was for muscle pain in her jaw.

Dr. Belo also said that chewing gum has protruded Charice's muscles. People believe that the procedure was done to improve her looks for her role on Glee where she'll appear alongside natural beauty, Lea Michele.

I like chewing gum and now I feel like I have to stop cause I don't wanna look like a few elephants ran a marathon on my face. That being said, why is this topic up for discussion? Oh, I forgot, Charice had the procedure filmed and many people know about it. It's her damn face: Let the young woman chop it up, shave it down, inject it, or stretch it out however she wants to.

It is all the attention we give to celebrities for their "transformations" why people alter, or desperately want to alter, their looks in the first place. If I looked like Charice, best believe I'd want someone to try to do something to make my huge face less prominent. Furthermore, she has the money to do so, and it's her prerogative. When your cheeks look big enough to house fugitives and you have the money to finance surgical procedures, then you're in the position to determine what you should do with your own face and you can cite personal experiences when you chime in on what Charice should do with hers.
