With all the weird sh!t Kanye West does on a daily basis, it’s almost easy to forget he once said on live TV that George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people.” Apparently, Dubya took the comment to heart because he’s still super pissed about it 5 years later.
“He called me a racist. And I didn’t appreciate it then…I don’t appreciate it now,” Bush said in an interview with Matt Lauer that airs on NBC this Monday. “The suggestion that I was racist because of the response to Katrina represented an all-time low.” Wow, no wonder dude couldn’t run the country. He was up all night worrying about what Kanye thought of him!
Weirdly, Kanye took a mature, non-crazy person approach to the whole thing and responded that he knows how Bush feels, due to the embarrassment he suffered after the Taylor Swift incident. “I definitely can understand the way he feels. With both situations it was a lack of compassion Americans saw. With him it was a lack of compassion with him not taking the time to rush down to New Orleans, with me it was a lack of compassion of cutting someone off in their moment.”
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. 1.) Failing to respond to one of the worst natural disasters in American history and ruining Taylor Swift‘s special moment are not really the same thing. 2.) An insult from Kanye West is an “all-time low” for Bush?! Really? I think if I had to, I could come up with some other pretty low points for ol’ G-Dubs. Just sayin’.
If you ask me, the biggest story here is that Bush has a harder time letting things go than f*cking Taylor Swift. Maybe we should’ve had her be president and let Bush write corny songs about getting dumped by John Mayer. The only thing Taylor would’ve declared war on is people who don’t believe in unicorns or some sh!t.
