Amber Portwood Charged With Felony Domestic Violence
Teen Mom Amber Portwood has been charged by the Anderson Police Department with two felonies and one misdemeanor stemming from the televised incidents where she beat the crap out of Gary Shirley, the father of her baby Leah. She faces up to three years in jail and fines of up to $10,000. She may not be able to skip the jail time, but she'll be able to pay off the fines with the fat paycheck she receives from MTV!
Amber hasn't been arrested yet because police have submitted an affidavit to a prosecutor who will make the final determination on the exact charges. The Anderson Police Deparment announced today that Amber is being charged with the felonies because the abuses was committed in front of her daughter Leah.
Here's what the police reports says about the incidents:
“According to police documents, on August 14, 2009, Portwood shoved Shirley against a wall, slapped him on the face and choked him. The incident was witnessed by the couple’s one-year-old child who sat in a child seat on a nearby bed. On June 14, 2010, Portwood was videotaped slapping Shirley five times, punching him three times and kicking him at least once. Finally, on July 18, 2010, Portwood is again videotaped in the presence of their child slapping Shirley in the face, and punching him several more times in the face and upper-body.”
Amber was also investigated by the local child protective services agency and agreed to a deal where she's being monitored for six months. I don't know if I agree with three years in jail, but she should do a little time behind bars and maybe she'll finally come to her senses and understand you don't beat the sh!t out of people just because you're angry.

First of all, Amber is a dum ass! Girl slash stupid person who doesn't deserve to be a parent at all. I think that Gary is a responsible parent. He doesn't deserve to be disrespected. AMBER!!deserves to be in jail and have no rights over her baby Leah, she should lose custody and make Gary have the custody. Baby Leah is better of with her dad than her abusive mother!

I was in a horrible relationship when i was 17 until about 19. He beat the crap out of me. Finally after going through a pregnancy in that violence...I managed to get out. I use to make fun of guys and girls in situations like that. I couldnt understand why they would stay and just thought they were stupid. Well i was stupid. When I did get in a relationship after that I became physically violent...after alot of therapy I finally have begun to find who I am again. Its always difficult to stay in control but at the same time no one deserves to be hit for any reason. She needs to want to talk to someone and not feel sorry for herself..that girl breaks down and cries but never does anything about anything..one day she will or or one day she will end up hurt or dead or in jail. I almost did.

I think Amber gets it now, AND she's no longer with Gary, so what's the point of this?
If only every person who abuses their partner was penalized for it, maybe it would make a difference. But when abusers get out of jail, the abuse resumes and often gets worse. I don't get worked up over people who are in relationships w/ abusive people because, at the end of the day, they have no common sense & they always choose their partner over their friends and family. I think she should spend some time in jail and I'm just meaning a week or two. I don't agree with three years because it's not fair to Leah, but I do think she may wake the fuck up if she sits behind bars for a few days.

This is BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Send Amber to jail? That is exactly how children recycle the cycle, often ending up in trouble because they were raised by their absentee parent(s).
Gary is probably a dick when the cameras aren't rolling and it's not like his massive and obese ass was ever injured in any way by 5'4 Amber's slaps and blows. She is not even with Gary anymore. Sucks to be her!
MTV better stop airing violence. Shit, WTF is gonna happen to the Jersey Shore kids?! :p
