Since Taylor Swift‘s real relationships seem to always end with her getting publicly dumped, she’s apparently decided to just say “screw it” and cash in on being the pathetic Jennifer Aniston of her generation by staging a fake relationship to sell records.

Apparently, Taylor wrote a song about this Adam Young dude, who is the lead singer of the band Owl City. Yesterday, Adam figured out the song, “Enchanted”, was about him and responded with an incredibly corny public letter to Taylor. “Everything about you is beautiful,” emo Adam wrote on his blog. “You’re an immensely charming girl with a wonderful heart and more grace and elegance than I know how to describe. I figured Valentine’s Day was the perfect time to write this note and simply say…I was enchanted to meet you too.” Adam then revealed that he recorded his own version of Taylor’s song and posted it on his band’s website. Awwww.
So it’s another vomit-inducing public romance for Taylor Swift. Nothing new there, until you consider this one is an obvious publicity stunt. Think about it: They both work for the same record label, this story came out on Valentine’s Day, it involves songs that they recorded for each other, and they both have upcoming projects to promote (a tour for her, a new album for him). It’s annoying enough to see Taylor Swift publicly “fall in love” for the 400th time without knowing it’s an obvious ploy for more fame and sympathy.
