Benjamin Millepied Plans to Retire in "One or Two" Years

Benjamin Millepied has impregnated a beautiful and talented Hollywood darling, so everyone's got it out for him. The press he has received to date hasn't been exactly favorable, but it's not like he's going to stop talking to the media. With Black Swan being released next Tuesday, Benjamin promoted the movie/ (himself) in a new feature with The LA Times.

The other day, a story came out which claimed that Natalie Portman used a body double for her dance scenes. Benjamin admits that a body double was used, but claims that Portman was featured in 85% of the dancing in the movie.

On his favorite dance moment in Black Swan: “What came off best to me was Natalie. It was so believable, it was fantastic, that beautiful movement quality. There are articles now talking about her dance double [American Ballet Theatre dancer Sarah Lane] that are making it sound like [Lane] did a lot of the work, but really, she just did the footwork, and the fouettés, and one diagonal [phrase] in the studio. Honestly, 85% of that movie iis Natalie.”

On how he choreographed the film: “By making things fluid and not too complicated, by getting more movement going, which in turn added to the camera movement — that is basically what I did. If we had kept things more classical, more restrained, less fluid, it would have been harder to trick the eye.”

On if he'll collaborat with Natalie on another dance project: “No! I mean I think this was a phenomenal, unforgettable experience. But there are no plans to collaborate again in the future.”

On critics of his work: “When ABT did ‘Everything Doesn’t Happen at Once’ in London there was a standing ovation at every performance. You have to go with your gut.”

On if he's excited about becoming a father: “Yes.  I’m very much looking forward to it. It’s a new life, as everyone who is around me who is a parent tells me. So I’m getting ready.”

Benny also says that he plans to do "a little more dancing" but hopes to retire as a performer "in one or two more years." Well, knocking up Natalie is a great first step. Portman can expect baby #2 by the time this a-hole retires.
