Kings of Leon: Break-Up and Rehab Rumors Follow Tour Cancellation
Kings of Leon cancelled the remainder of their US tour on Monday, following a disastrous show in Dallas that led many to wonder if all was well with the brothers (and cousin) Followill. The now-notorious Dallas concert (you can catch video of it after the jump) featured lead vocalist Caleb Followill asking the audience to take over singing duties and announcing his intention to go backstage to vomit and drink more beer. He then left the stage and never returned. The KOL boys have always been a hard-partying lot, but this was an extreme display even by their standards.
Naturally, when the band announced soon after the Dallas show that they were calling off the rest of their tour, rumors started to fly. And now that the Kings themselves are posting pessimistic Tweets, many are speculating that a break-up or rehab announcement will be made in the near future. "I can't lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade," bassist Jared Followill Tweeted in response to the rumor that Caleb's erratic behavior was the result of dehydration. So there seems to be little doubt that the band has fallen on hard times, but the question remains: how serious are their problems?
Some have gone so far as to compare the Dallas incident to another recent humiliating performance by a talented, hard-living young vocalist. While the Followill/Winehouse comparisons seem a bit overblown, it's difficult not to be concerned in the wake of such a tragic loss of life and talent. In all likelihood, Kings of Leon have just been temporarily overwhelmed by the rockstar lifestyle. They'll soon figure out the right balance between booze and music, and return to form with maybe a self-imposed pre-show drink limit. Unfortunately, in the meantime, literally hundreds of thousands of fans (myself included) are beyond disappointed to be granted a refund instead of a chance to catch one of the nation's most exciting rock bands when they should be in their prime. Here's hoping the Kings haven't let their egos or lifestyles come between themselves and their audience, and that they'll soon reign supreme once more.
Either way, the Dallas concert footage is pretty hilarious. Jump in to check it out.

Totally. These guys were open about their hard drug use early in their career, but they claimed to have settled down. Now it looks like they might be indulging in more than a few beers backstage.

I agree there’s definitely cause for concern. I don’t think Caleb is well. I hope this tour cancellation means that he is getting some help for any substance abuse/alcohol problems that he is having.
