Harvey Weinstein wants Katy Perry to play Marilyn Monroe in a Broadway musical based upon the movie, My Week With Marilyn, which stars Michelle Williams as Monroe.

Harvey said: "If the movie works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy first.  think she can play Marilyn on the Broadway stage...I think she would be amazing."

Katy would be sexy, but I don't know about the "amazing" part.

Harvey is impressed with Perry's following! Not only is her song "The One That Got Away" being used in a trailer for My Week With Marilyn, but she gave the movie free promotion.

"Katy posted about it on her Twitter and Facebook and the next thing you know 250,000 people have downloaded the trailer in an hour," Weinstein said.

Katy played Marilyn for a 90-second commercial for German TV show Star Force.

We aren't so sure if Harvey's up to date on his celebrity gossip! Katy wants to take one year off from work.
