Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln Photo Released
Daniel Day-Lewis will play Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's upcoming biopic of the 16th president. DDL is an Oscar winner, celebrated for his astounding ability to transform himself into a wide array of characters, but history buffs were concerned about how accurately the lanky Brit would be able to portray Honest Abe. Hopefully, a photo released today will put those fears to rest.
That's Day-Lewis on the set of the film, and, yeah...it pretty much looks like someone took a digital camera back to 1860 and snapped a pic of the pres in repose. Okay, the jeans kinda ruin the historical authenticity, but still, it's not hard to imagine this is actually Lincoln, sitting across the table from his wife, b!tching about how much he hates going to the theater.
Lincoln is set for release in late 2012, and features Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Abe's son, Robert. They may as well just ship a crate full of Oscars to the set. Can't wait to see DDL in full top-hat pimp mode.
