Kanye West launched a 3-hour Twitter “rant” last night. I read the entire “rant” and the media is sensationalizing Yeezy’s Tweets to make him look like the “angry black man.” Kanye is more like the ‘passionate about creativity black man’ who happens to be famous and have many followers on Twitter.
Ye is working on his new project which will be called Donda, the first name of his late mother. Kanye wants to “pick up where Steve Jobs left off” and “make products and experiences that people want and can afford”.
He’d like to “help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel, dream of, create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need.. To marry our wants and needs.”
We just need to sit back and let Kanye be great! He’s assembling over 22 divisions of staff, composed of “architects, graphic designers, directors musicians, producers, AnRs, writers, publicist, social media experts, app guys, managers, car designers, clothing designers, DJs, video game designers, publishers, tech guys, lawyers, bankers, nutritionists, doctors, scientists and teachers.” Sounds expensive!
What folks aren’t posting is Kanye’s Tweets about his spending habits:
“I know this is not a very rapper thing to say but I haven’t bought a new car or piece of jewelry in about 2 years… I invest every dime back into creativity… hiring amazing creatives paying for flights, offices … etc…”
The man is passionate (and delusional), but he’s just creative and he aspires to share the creativity, making products affordable to those who aren’t wealthy. Although there is something wrong with Kanye’s love for being emotional and oversharing, there’s nothing wrong with his vision. Every idea sounds stupid, if not impossible, until executed. Be great Kanye!
