Demi Lovato's performance of "Give Your Heart a Break" during last night's People's Choice Awards was widely considered to be the low point of the evening, leading many to speculate that the singer is still shaken up by her difficult year and recent split from Wilmer Valderrama.

It's hard not to root Demi given the difficulties she's been through lately, but at the same time, there's no denying that her performance last night was unimpressive, to say the least. It's not that her singing is terrible; it's just that she seems to be struggling so hard to keep up with the beat and stay on key, that the whole thing is a bit painful to watch. Couple that with a look that would be more at home on the Jersey Shore than on an awards show stage, and it's not hard to see why everyone dog piled the performance.

It's a bit much to blame Demi's singing on her personal problems, though. The more likely theory is that she was just never much of a live performer. Hey, she's got acting to fall back on, and on the plus side, she looked great on the red carpet!
