Adele is usually pretty private about her personal life (except in song form) but the singer felt the need to speak out yesterday, after it was widely reported that her millionaire boyfriend, Simon Konecki, is still married to the mother of his five year-old daughter.

“This is the first and last time I will comment on the details of my relationship with Simon,” Adele wrote on her website. “Contrary to reports and headlines in the press today, Simon is divorced and has been for 4 years.” Whoa. Pretty defensive, considering no one was claiming Adele was a homewrecker. The story was simply that her new man was only separated from his wife and had never officially divorced her.

So Adele’s story couldn’t be more different than the one reported yesterday. Not only is Simon divorced, she claims, he has been for years. The truth will come out on this one eventually. There may be a difference between what he’s been telling her and what actually happened, but the British tabloids aren’t likely to just forget about this mini-scandal.
