Katharine McPhee: Smash's Comeback Queen
I can't be the only one stunned by Katharine McPhee's incomparable comeback. The woman practically came back from the dead. McPhee lost American Idol like 13 years ago to some loser who only one because of websites like Vote For the Worst.
A failed music career and a few small roles later, Katharine is headlining one of the biggest shows on television, NBC's "Smash". Now I'm speaking way too soon, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this chick pick up some big awards within a year. I'm talkin' Golden Globes, Screen Actors' Guild, Critics Choice crap, sh!t like that!
I'm no Katharine fan, but check out what she says in the new issue of Self magazine.
On her "Smash" fitness routine: “I do a five-hour dance rehearsal. I feel it in my thighs and calves, but it’s so stop-and-go. I miss my real workout … I love my body when I’m in the best shape I can be in. It feels good to be strong.”
On riding subways in NYC: “Smash has a set in Brooklyn, and on my first day of work, I said, ‘I’m going to be a real New Yorker, get there on my own and not spend $30 on a cab.’ But I went the wrong way on the subway, and when I asked for directions, the person in the booth was mean to me. So I ended up crying and in a cab anyway. Now the show sends a van for me.”
On how she relaxes: “If I’m not too exhausted, my husband [Nick Cokas] and I go out for a nice neighborhood dinner. Or we do leftovers, maybe lentils and turkey burgers, then Pinkberry for peanut butter yogurt.”

Katherine was my favorite from that season of Idol, but it was probably for the best that she didn't win. I saw Smash and she was so good. Hopefully the show with be very successful. I'm rooting for her. :)
