Lady Gaga spoke with Oprah Winfrey recently and made a shocking revelation. After her sit-down with the Queen of Talk, Gaga won't be giving anymore interviews. "Other than this interview, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time… No press, no TV. I shut it all off," says the Mother Monster.
This wouldn't be a big deal for anyone else. Non-Kardashian celebs take breaks from the spotlight all the time, but Gaga's entire career is based on playing her role 24/7. She's never photographed out of costume and she maintains constant communication with her legion of fans. So what does this self-imposed silence mean for the future of her career?
Could it be that Gaga is running out of ways to shock? When she first hit the scene several years ago, Stefani Germanotta had no problem raising eyebrows at every public event she attended. Now, when she hatches from an egg or wears food on a red carpet, people shrug and look for Adele. As for her interviews, Gaga's recent attempts at weirdness have generally fallen flat. OMG! She heard her parents having sex when she was young!..Um, who cares?
Personally, I think Gaga's decision to step away from center stage and head back to the drawing board is long overdue. Her music is still selling, but the press and public seem to be getting bored with her constant bids for attention. Nothing is weird forever.
