Because the Internet is 1/3 hate (the other 2/3 are porn and pictures of cats) the astoundingly hot Jennifer Lawrence has been attacked in the wake of The Hunger Games‘ success for apparently being too fat for her role as Katniss Everdeen (many a “Fatness” pun has been made).
The truly astonishing part is that it’s not just Twitter haters criticizing the 21 year-old actress. In some cases, it’s professional journalists. Lawrence has been called “well-fed” and a “big-boned lady” by actual mainstream publications and websites. So just in case you thought the pressure on Hollywood actresses to remain sickly thin was beginning to wane…yeah, you were wrong.
Fortunately, J-Law is not your typical young actress who takes her every cue from fans and the press. Jen has shown remarkable poise and confidence for a woman just beginning a Hollywood career and she shows no signs of bowing to pressure transform her look.
According to a friend, Jen responded to one harsh critique of her body by saying, “This is hilarious. First, people say how so many actresses in Hollywood look anorexic, and now they are criticizing me for looking normal.” She added that young women seek to conform to an unrealistic standard of beauty “thanks to what they are constantly being shown as being attractive.” More reason to love Ms. Lawrence, who will hopefully continue to grace the screen with her full-figured hotness for many years to come.
