Katy Perry’s quickie marriage to Russell Brand may have bombed, but her album sales will continue to soar. This woman knows how to write a hit, and Katy “sang” her new single, “Wide Awake” at the Billboard Awards yesterday. Like pretty much all of Katy’s songs, “Wide Awake” is catchy. Unlike Katy’s signature songs, this track is pretty sad and includes the following lyrics: “I’m wide awake. I was in the dark, I was falling hard with an open heart. How did I read the stars so wrong. I was dreaming for so long. I wish I knew then what I know now. I wouldn’t dive in, I wouldn’t bow down… Need nothing to complete myself. I am born again, out of the lion’s den. I don’t have to pretend. The story’s over now, the end.” Katy got hitched while caught up in the honeymoon phase but it sounds like she’s learned her lesson!
