Rodney King, the man who brought a face to racial profiling with the unforgettable footage of his beating, has died. King was 47. Rodney was beaten to a bloody pulp in 1991 by Los Angeles police officers after being pulled over for speeding. The officers were acquitted of charges which incited one of the worst riots in Los Angeles history.

Rodney’s fiance Cynthia Kelly found his body at the bottom of a swimming pool around 5:25 am on Sunday. There were no signs of foul play. Cynthia says that King had smoked marijuana hours before his death.
