Who has several billion xlarge_ps and gets pissed off easily? Religious fundamentalists! Usually I do my best to ignore the humorless, fanatical folks of the world, but earlier today they decided to attack the thoroughly flaw-free Lena Dunham for what's surely nothing more than an off-the-cuff Twitter gag.

The offending photo, posted above, shows Dunham with a blanket wrapped around her head in the style of a Muslim veil, along with the caption, "I had a real goth/fundamentalist attitude when I woke up from my nap." As usual, Dunham was making a joke mainly at her own expense, but Muslim fundamentalists have taken to the Internet in droves, demanding an apology.
See? This is what happens when you elect a Muslim president (I kid). Yes, religion is always a sensitive topic and Lena probably should've steered clear of the topic, but she's poking fun at a style of dress, not the tenets of anyone's faith. There are comedians who've based their entire career on mocking the customs of Middle Eastern traditions (I'm looking at you, Sacha Baron Cohen) and it's hard to imagine that none of the outrage here stems from the fact that Dunham is a woman.
Regardless, of your faith or nationality, everyone should take offense at this new trend of public wrath directed at freakin' comedians whose primary intent is very clearly just to be funny. No word yet on how the International League of Goths feels about this scandal.
