Robert Pattinson made his much-anticipated return to the spotlight on Monday night's episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Judging from the results, Stewart may become the new go-to guy for post-scandal interviews.

"I had a joke prepared. Goddam it!" joked Pattinson, when Stewart messed up his intro with a calm, "What have you been up to?" The two then dug into pints of Ben & Jerry's in the grand tradition of the broken-hearted, leading Rob to remark, "I'm gonna split my Spanx"

Pattsy went on to say, "My biggest problem in my life is, I'm cheap…and I didn't hire a publcist." He then complained of his future of "awkward" interviews, and said, "I'm gonna hire a publicist."

Most remarkably, Stewart repeatedly referred to Rob's situation as a public "breakup," and the actor did nothing to correct him.

So it looks like this may be it for Robsten, after all. On the plus side, Rob seemed to thoroughly enjoy his return to the spotlight, declaring at the end of the interview, "This was a great idea."
