Borat Will Be Releasing A Book?!?

May 24th, 2007

Borat is releasing a book! I’m just hoping there’s chapters on “Why a horse is ranked higher than a woman” and ‘There’s always time to talk about sex with your incest wife at dinner“.

The ever eloquent ambassador from Kazakhstan has a book, with two titles, coming out this fall: “Borat: Touristic Guidings To Minor Nation of U.S. and A.” and “Borat: Touristic Guidings To Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.”

“There is one and only Borat and we are honored to have him join our pantheon of international writers,” Suzanne Herz, publisher of Flying Dolphin Press, an imprint of Random House, Inc.’s Doubleday Broadway Publishing Group, said in a statement Wednesday.

According to Flying Dolphin Press, “one half will be a guide to America for Kazakhs and the other half … a guide to Kazakhstan for Westerners.” It will feature Borat’s timeless wisdom, plus illustrations and photographs.

Could a Borat book be nearly as good as his movie? I personally think not…. Unless he has illustrations of him tea-bagging people. I’m a big fan of Sacha Baron Cohen and all of his Da Ali G Show characters, but I think he might have jumped the gun with the Borat book. Reading this article, I almost wonder if this Suzanne chick realized Borat is just a fictional character?

Leo Dicaprio, Sacha Baron Cohen, Rosie O’Donnell In Time Magazines 100 Influential People Issue

May 3rd, 2007

Heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and envelope-pushers Rosie O’Donnell and Sacha Baron Cohen are among the entertainment newsmakers on Time magazine’s list of 100 people who shape the world.

Roseanne Barr weighed in on Baron Cohen, also known as Borat. “He does offend some people’s sensibilities, but the youth of today are offended if they’re not offended,” she wrote.

The list of 100 most influential, on newsstands Friday, also includes Queen Elizabeth II, presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, YouTube founders Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, director Martin Scorsese and model Kate Moss.

Scorsese, who often casts DiCaprio in his films, praised the 32-year-old screen idol/activist as a “true actor.”

DiCaprio is another guy a lot of us underestimated as a pretty-boy type,” Adi Ignatius, a deputy managing editor at Time, told AP Television News.

Other entertainers making the cut were Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake, Tyra Banks, Cate Blanchett, America Ferrera, Tina Fey, John Mayer, Brian Williams, Michael J. Fox, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller.

You gotta laugh when Sacha Baron Cohen & Kate Moss make the list and George Bush doesn’t. :)

Borat’s Ho, Isla Fischer

March 22nd, 2007

Sacha Baron Cohen’s fiancee Isla Fisher was at the premier of her new movie The Lookout on Tuesday night. She made her appearance on the red carpet sans Borat. He was there, but he let her have her moment. The Lookout is a thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (dude from 3rd Rock From The Sun), wtf?! Can’t believe I remembered that title.

Joseph’s a mentally impaired janitor who finds himself in the middle of a bank heist. Isla’s his love interest.

Sacha Baron Cohen Is So Hot And So Shy

February 14th, 2007

Sacha Baron Cohen is nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for his blockbuster comedy Borat, but he’s turned down an invite to present during the awards show.

His rep isn’t commenting, but I hear Cohen isn’t comfortable appearing before such a large group out of character.

That is really sad!!! But I can understand.

I have hope that Sacha will begin to get more comfortable in front of crowds within the next few years. You can do it.

A Borat Sequel Is In The Works

February 9th, 2007

Funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen will revive his cult Kazakhstani TV reporter BORAT for a sequel to hit movie BORAT: CULTURAL LEARNINGS OF AMERICA FOR MAKE BENEFIT GLORIOUS NATION OF KAZAKHSTAN.

Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, who made a fortune out of the quirky comedy as the boss of distributor 20th Century Fox, revealed Borat would be back during a keynote speech at the MCGraw Hill Media Summit in New York yesterday (08FEB07).

Murdoch confessed he was a huge fan of the film: “I’ve seen it about three times and laughed like hell.”

The film made almost $250 million (GBP128 million) worldwide, which prompted 20th Century Fox bosses to beg Cohen for a sequel.
