Simon Monjack: Brittany Murphy's Husband Found Dead

Nearly five months after Brittany Murphy's untimely passing, her husband Simon Monjack, 39, was found dead last night.

Simon Monjack dead

Simon's death may have been an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

One well-placed source says, "There were a number of pill bottles on the nightstand in the bedroom, and some were empty."  Many of the drugs on Simon's nightstand were the same as the ones found after Brittany died.

One law enforcement source says the two causes of death that seem most plausible at the moment are "natural" and "accidental drug overdose."

Brittany's poor mother found Simon's body last night. She also found her daughter Brittany unconscious on the bathroom floor five months earlier.

Brittany Murphy 911 Call Released

The LAPD has relesed the 911 call made from Brittany Murphy's mother Sharon, who found her daughter unconscious in the bathroom. During the beginning of the call, Sharon says Brittany is "passed out! We're doing mouth to mouth. Please get here quick! Please hurry!"

As Sharon and Brittany's husband Simon Monjack move her body to do compressions, Sharon said Brittany "just threw up tons of stuff, tons and tons of water." At one point during the call, Sharon cries out "Brittany, please come back!"

This is extremely sad to listen to, and you can truly hear a mother's sorrow over losing her daughter.

RIP Brittany

Brittany Murphy's Funeral is Today, Her Dad Refuses to Attend

Brittany Murphy's father, Angelino Bertolotti, is still in shock over his daughter's tragic death. Brittany's funeral is scheduled to take place today in the Hollywood hills, but Brittany's dad refuses to attend.

Angelino told E! News: "I can't believe it really. It happened so fast; I'm just trying to figure it all out right now. I'm very upset by it."

Angelino hadn't spoken to the actress for more than a year and had never met her husband, Simon Monjack. "If I wanted to go, I would go, but I don't want to see her that way. She was flawless to me... I have only good memories about her... To me she's off making a movie somewhere."

Angelo said that he was unaware of Brittany's alleged poor health and that Brittany and her mother were "very, very close." It's clear that everyone deals with grief differently and it's Angelino's choice not to attend.

Merry Christmas Eve, Brittany!

Simon Monjack: Brittany Murphy 'Was Not A Drug Addict'

Brittany Murphy's husband is speaking out about allegations of a drug overdose leading to his wife's death. Simon Monjack says reports that Brittany had an unchecked eating disorder were "heartless and false."

"I'm confident it wasn't an overdose. She was not a drug addict. The attacks on me, the attacks on my wife, and suggestions that she was anorexic and drug addicted, it's like, look at the (recent) photographs." Simon is referring to photos that he took for a photography book that he and Brittany were going to publish as a celebration of their marriage. Of course anyone can look good in a professional photo with their hair and makeup all done up.

You can check out the photos here.

He also said she didn't take anything the morning of her death "that would have caused her to be sick or ill, let alone die. It's beyond even the sickest speculation." So I guess it's just one of those freak accident type of things? When something like this happens it seems like it always turns out to be some type of under lying heart condition that was never detected, which makes me wanna make an appointment with the doc and have my sh*t check out!

Brittany Murphy Final Movie Video Clip From "Abandoned"

Here's a video clip of Brittany Murphy playing the lead role in the psychological thriller "Abandoned." Brittany plays the role of Mary Walsh, whose husband has vanished, and she's frantic to find him.

Director Michael Feifer said Brittany was good at her craft of being an actress and had a wonderful experience working with her.

"Brittany was a pro. When she needed to turn it on, she just threw a switch and she was on. She didn't have to be all method. It hurts me to hear all this salacious stuff, because my experience with Brittany was really one of my best experiences with an actress."

"Clueless" is still one of my all time favorite movies, and I'm sad to see Brittany go. This tiny clip from "Abandoned" is intense, and looks like it's going to be a good movie. But then again, they always show clips of the best parts of a film and the rest can totally suck. I hope that's not the case, because it would be cool for her final film role to be an amazing one.

Dakota Fanning Remembers Brittany Murphy

I just love Dakota Fanning and I hope she remains down to earth and grounded.

Brittany Murphy and Dakota were co-stars in Uptown Girls and Dakota issued the following statement about Ms. Murphy:

"I got to know Brittany when we made the film Uptown Girls. We became great friends despite the fact we were many years apart in age. Brittany had such a warm child-like spirit that drew people to her. With her goes a piece of my heart and I will miss her terribly. I know how strong Brittany's love was for her family and my heart goes out to all of them, especially her mother Sharon. I love you Brittany."

It's nice to see that Dakota cares. She didn't have to say anything at all, nor did she have to issue such a personal statement. This was really sweet of Dakota.

Brittany Murphy Basically Had a Pharmacy At Her House

Brittany Murphy died of a heart attack early on Sunday morning and many speculated that she may have been engaging in excessive drug use. From the looks of what was found at her home, speculators were right. However, Brittany wasn't pulling any Amy Wino or Lindsay Lohan or Courtney Love crap, she was like a female Michael Jackson.

Brittany was complaining about shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain for 7 to 10 days prior to her passing. She went into the bathroom around 7:30 AM Sunday and shut the door. Her mother found her a half hour later. She was lying on the floor, "unresponsive." Brittany's mother called Brittany's husband, who moved her to the bathtub and ran some water, hoping to wake her up.

When the paramedics arrived, Brittany was "without signs of life." The meds found in Brittany's home with her name, her husband's and her mother's include:

  • Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines)
  • Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory)
  • Fluoxetine (depression med)
  • Klonopin (anxiety med)
  • Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med)
  • Ativan (anxiety med)
  • Vicoprofen (pain reliever)
  • Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks)
  • Biaxin (antibiotic)
  • Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.

The notes say, "No alcohol containers, paraphernalia or illegal drugs were discovered." The investigator spoke with police at the scene, who told him "foul play is not suspected."

Brittany Murphy Died of a Prescription Drug Overdose?

While I remain hesitant on citing specific causes, TMZ is reporting that Brittany Murphy may have been pill-popping and she was very ill before she fell into full cardiac arrest.

Brittany Murphy drug overdose

Brittany Murphy was taking prescription medications for "flu-like" symptoms that she had been experiencing for several days. She began vomiting early Sunday morning and told her family members that she felt very ill.

Various prescriptions were found in the home -- written for Brittany Murphy, husband Simon Monjack, and Brittany's mom. "There were a lot ... a lot of prescriptions in the house."

There was "a significant amount" of vomit in the bathroom where Brittany collapsed. After she fell down, she somehow ended up in the shower. Brittany's husband did not want an autopsy performed, but one is underway. There is no evidence of foul play or criminality at this time.

What a horrible way to go. We miss you, Brittany!

Brittany Murphy: Dead at 32, New Details

Many are speculating that Brittany Murphy's husband may not only be the person who killed her, but that he was the one who called 911.

Brittany Murphy died of drug overdose?

Brittany's mother is the one who discovered her unconscious daughter in the shower. Paramedics arrived on the scene and determined that Brittany was in full cardiac arrest. They immediately began administering CPR. They continued their CPR efforts until they got to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, which happens to be several miles away. Brittany, however, remained unresponsive and she was pronounced dead.

The LA County Coroner is launching an investigation.

For now I'll hold off on speculating about what the causes behind her tragic death were. RIP.
