Heath Ledger's Family Attends NY Premiere

Heath Ledger's family attended the New York premiere of The Dark Knight yesterday to see him in the final performance of his life.

His father, Kim Ledger, and stepmother Ines snuck into the theater, dodging the red carpet and the spotlight.

Heath's mother Sally Bell, her husband, and his older sister, Kate, also came to watch the film.

Although you would think it would have been almost impossible to watch their son/brother on the big screen after his tragic death, Heath's father left feeling positive about the experience. He showed a thumbs-up to reporters and said it felt "very good".

Ledger's Dark Knight co-stars as well as a slew of other celebs showed up to honor the memory of the late actor.

Co-star Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the film, praised Heath's work.

"Working with Heath was fantastic. He steals the movie and I'm quite happy to say that. He's a hell of a talent and created a joker that's very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages."

Michael Caine, 75, plays butler Alfred Pennyworth, says that Heath's performance was intense and ferocious, and that he could flip it on like a switch.

"When we were sitting down between takes, he was completely ordinary. He wasn't preparing himself or saying 'Please leave me alone, I've gotta do this.' Instead he was talking to me. We would sit and chat and have a cup of coffee, then suddenly they'd say, 'We're ready, Heath,' and he'd go straight into The Joker. His energy was astonishing, especially when it came from this kind of calm. He's certainly the best villain I've ever seen."

The Heath Ledger Theatre

Isn't this sweet? What a thoughtful way to honor the late actor. I don't know about you, but I still miss Heath. May he rest in peace, and smile from ear to ear when he learns of Australia's touching tribute.

Perth, Australia, is getting a new landmark: a $87 million, 575-seat auditorium named for a native son, the Heath Ledger Theatre.

"Heath Ledger was totally dedicated to the craft of being an actor and that's what made him successful," Carpenter said. "I think what we're doing is continuing that support for young people who want to make a career in the arts and acting, stage and in film, whatever it happens to be."

Also in attendance: Heath's father, Kim Ledger, who considered the honor to his son a pleasant surprise.

"He was such a giver to the arts right across the board. I really feel that there's not a lot of things he'd put his name to, but he'd put his name to that," said the elder Ledger.

Kim Ledger also said that the praise being heaped upon Heath's performance is making his family's private grieving all the more difficult.

"It's been a little bit hard, but we've always been extremely proud of his work and that hasn't changed."

Michelle Williams Says It's All Good in the Familyhood

michelle-williams-b_0.jpg

Michelle Williams is not feuding with Heath Ledger's family over the late actor's will.According to the New York Post, Williams plans to skip the upcoming Dark Knight premiere because Ledger's family will be there. A source says she is still "furious" with them because she "has seen nothing" from Ledger's will.

But her rep tells Us:

"The presumption that Michelle ever intended to attend The Dark Knight premiere is unfounded, but to say she is 'boycotting' due to a rift with Heath's family is absurd.

"It is time to allow this family to go about their lives without this continued scrutiny and speculation."

Michelle Williams gives 2-year-old daughter Matilda a lift on their way to the park in Brooklyn, where the mother-daughter duo spent a low-key Mother's Day together.

Wow! Look how cute little Matilda is! She looks so much like her daddy Heath it's unbelievable! She's gonna be breaking some boys hearts in about 15 years.

Today's A Good Gossip Day

Just when I was feeling sorry for myself because the gossip has been sucking, I have good shiz to get to. I think one of my final posts of the day will be the John Mayer and Perez Hilton scandal because I'm dying to weigh in.

And, as you've probably noticed, I ignored the Heath Ledger love child rumor because it's disrespectful and ridiculous. But, here ya go. Heath's uncle talked to Us magazine about it:

Reports that Heath Ledger fathered a love child have been blown out of proportion, the late actor's uncle Mike told Usmagazine.com in a telephone interview Wednesday.

How did the rumors start?
All my brother Haydn said was that anything is possible, and from there, it just went absolutely berserk. At the end of the day, our thoughts are with the little girl in question, and we're not prepared to make any more comments at all.

So Haydn said something, and it was taken out of context?
Yes. Haydn was asked a question that wasn't directly related to the Heath issue: 'If someone was this age, could it be possible?' and Haydn said 'Anything is possible,' and that's it. His statement was absolutely taken out of context. Absolutely.

So you and Haydn don't know for a fact if Heath had another child or not?
No. It's just a rumor! It's been a rumor for a long while.

Did you and the rest of Heath's family know about Heath having a girlfriend who was older?
There were rumors. He was a young, good-looking guy, and he attracted lots of women.

Do you know the woman in question?
No, and I'm not going to comment any further. I'm sorry. I really feel for the little girl that's in the middle of this, and my thoughts are with her and her alone. The little girl is the most important thing in the whole thing.

No Mention Of Michelle Williams & Daughter Matilda In Heath Ledgers Will

williams.jpg

Details of Heath Ledger's will were released over the weekend and nothing in the will showed his ex Michelle or daughter Matilda being provided for after his death. Reason being, Heath wrote his will in 2003 (before dating Michelle Williams) leaving everything he owned to his parents and sister. Heath's father Kim Ledger released a statement regarding Heath's will:

"Matilda is our absolute priority and Michelle is an integral part of our family," Heath's father Kim Ledger says in a statement. "They will be taken care of and that's how Heath would want it to be."

I believe Heath's family will do what's right and make sure Michelle and Matilda are taken care of. Heath loved Michelle and Matilda too much to leave them with nothing after he passed.

Heath Ledger's Final Portrait

heath-ledger-final-portrait.jpg

Heath Ledger sat for a revealing portrait session just weeks before his tragic death on January 22.Australian artist Vincent Fantauzzo's painting is the result of an intense collaboration between himself and the 28-year-old star. "Before we did the painting we talked to all hours," he says. "The night before, we talked about the painting and about art, and about all sorts of things."

The haunting image "was an idea we discussed together and came up with... it was about how we all have different consciences and voices in our head that tell us what to do and how to react. They're not good or bad, they're just voices that we hear, telling us how to behave. That's what the other figures are in the painting."

When it came to the sitting, however, the talk stopped. "Heath was really serious and focused and almost in a meditation. He's quite serious."
