Heath Ledger Died Of Accidental Overdose

heath.jpg

"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine," medical examiner's spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said in a news release. The drugs are the generic names for the OxyContin painkiller, the anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Xanax, and the sleep aids Restoril and Unisom. Hydrocodone is a widely used prescription painkiller. Borakove wouldn't say what concentrations of each drug were found in Ledger's blood, or whether one drug played a greater part than another in causing his death.

"What you're looking at here is the cumulative effects of these medications together is what caused his death," she said.

In a statement released through Ledger's publicist, Ledger's father, Kim, said Wednesday: "While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage."

RIP Heath.

Michelle Williams Finally Issues Statement on Heath Ledger's Death

"Please respect our need to grieve privately. My heart is broken," Williams said in a statement released on Friday by Ledger's spokeswoman.Williams, 27, and Ledger met on the set of the 2005 movie "Brokeback Mountain," fell in love and had Matilda, who is now two years old. They lived together in New York and speculation was that they planned to marry, although they never officially confirmed an engagement. Williams and Ledger split up in September.Ledger, 28, was found dead in his bed on January 22 in his New York apartment with sleeping pills and prescription drugs nearby, police said. An official cause of death has yet to be determined."I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day. His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up with the best memories of him."

ET and The Insider Do Damage Control, Cancel Heath Ledger Drug Use Video

heath-ledger-drugs.jpg

The footage was bought for $200,000, was shot without Heath's knowledge, at the Chateau Marmont hotel in L.A. following the SAG awards on January 29, 2006.

In the video, Heath is shown talking while at a private party after sniffing a cocaine-like substance off a table with a rolled up bill in his hand. As he speaks, his face noticeably twitches.

Heath says at one point, "I'm gonna get so much sh*t from my girlfriend. We have a baby together… Matilda, Matilda Rose."

ET and The Insider planned to show the clip later this week.

After ET and The Insider were threatened, they decided to pull the footage "out of respect":

The celebrity news programs have released a joint statement warning a media outlet that they will be subject to lawsuits and fines if they choose to show the video.

A lengthy clip of the drug video aired on their Wednesday broadcast. Millions of people have already watched the footage. It's stories like these that make me feel bad about being a gossip blogger. R.I.P. Heath.

Did Heath Ledger Refuse Rehab Back In 2006?

ledger.jpg

New information is coming out about Heath Ledgers previous issues with drugs and alcohol. One of those pesky sources is saying that Heath's Ex, Michelle Williams, tried taking Heath to rehab back in 2006 but he didn't go and vowed to clean up his act.

For three years, Williams was a firsthand witness to the gifted actor's use of alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, heroin and "a variety of pills," says a Ledger confidant. In March 2006 â€" just weeks after the couple walked the Oscars red carpet and when daughter Matilda was only five months old â€" Williams drove Ledger to Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, California, the confidant tells Us Weekly. Ledger refused to check in, instead swaying her with a pledge to clean up. Even after the couple realized "they were in way over their heads," according to a source, and split in September 2007, two sources tell Us that Williams demanded Ledger be drug-tested before his visitations with Matilda. When news of Ledger's death broke last Tuesday, Williams was inconsolable. "She cried and screamed as soon as she heard," a source on the Swedish set of her latest film, Mammoth, tells Us.

It just goes to show that Michelle was doing whatever she could to try and save their relationship for the good of their daughter Matilda.

Mary-Kate Olsen Totally Wrote Her Statement on Heath Ledger

There's no fancy PR wording in here. Mary-Kate totally penned this.

mary-kate-statement.jpg

Mary-Kate finally made a public statement today regarding Heath Ledger, the Australian actor who was found dead shortly before his housekeeper called Mary-Kate four times.

"Heath was a friend. His death is a tragic loss. My thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time."

Well, well, well, if you know how I roll, as in, you know how I type - you should be familiar with my inability to shut the eff up and step away from the keyboard.

Although MK didn't have to make a statement at all, I think it would be so disrespectful not to say something kind about a dear friend who has passed away, so at least she did that.

Now, that being said, I'm disappointed in Mary-Kate's statement. Very disappointed. I didn't know Heath personally, but I could have said the exact same thing about the talented young actor. In fact, every single gossip blogger this week has said, "His death is a tragic loss. My thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time." - including me!

I know she must be hurting, but damn. Mary-Kate gave the weakest, most disconnected statement of all this week! I mean, John Travolta went balls out over Heath and he never even worked with him.

Maybe I'm high maintenance; I just expected at least a few dozen words from her, reminding us of how amazing he was.

  • Mary-Kate and Heath were dating, but not exclusively, for three months before his passing.

Heath Ledger's Family Writes The Saddest Goodbyes I've Ever Read

heaths-family.jpg

Grab the Kleenex!!

Elder sister Kate wrote:

"I can hardly breathe when I try to write this . . . we were the ultimate in soul mates. I feel both my heart and life have been torn apart. I loved our special talks, our daily chats from wherever you were in the world....

"There will never, ever be another 'Heath' and I think that in itself is the greatest tragedy.

"I will continue to talk with you everyday and love you just as if you were here. You will never leave my thoughts 'Roast,' ever."

His father Kim added:

"'Heatho,' 'Beef,' . . . my beautiful boy, so loving, so talented, so independent, so caring, so young . . . no more chess games mate . . . this is it, couldn't beat you anyway!

"My body aches for the sound of your voice, our chats, our laughs and our life and times together."

Heath's mother Sally wrote:

"Our darling boy, special in so many ways to all of us. You knew you were so loved. You lived life with courage and daring and we are so grateful for the wonderful times we shared. We will be there for Matilda. Your loving Mamma, Rog and Ash."

Younger sister Olivia wrote:

"You're my idol, my hero, but most importantly, my loving big brother. I'll treasure every moment we spent together. I love you Heath, I miss you and pray every night you're safe."

  • A tribute from all members of Heath's immediate family read:

"How do we describe our sudden and tragic loss? ... You were the most amazing individual 'old soul' in a young man's body.

"You so loved us, as we dearly loved you. As a close knit and very private family unit we have observed you so determined yet quietly traveling in your self-styled path in life, nothing would get in your way ... no mountain too tall, no river too wide.

"You dreamed your dreams and lived them with passion and intelligent commitment. We have been privileged to accompany you on a ride through life that has simply been amazing and through it all, we have loved each other beyond imagination.

"Your true legacy lives on in beautiful little Matilda, who will always remain in the greatest of care. Our hearts are broken ."

Homophobic A-Hole Should Get Fired

john-gibson-asshole.jpg

Fox News' John Gibson called Ledger a "weirdo" with a "serious drug problem." Making fun of the famous "I wish I knew how to quit you" line from "Brokeback Mountain," Gibson said of his death, "Well, he found out how to quit you."

Gibson then went on to say that TMZ reported that Heath had a 'serious drug problem' and because ‘TMZ is right about everything….about 90% of the time,' it must be true.

After Heath's famous Brokeback line came the clip which featured Ledger saying, "We're dead." Gibson then played that clip a few more times.

Gibson mentioned Ledgers's death several times during his broadcast, joking that maybe Heath killed himself because he was going to lose money in the stock market, or that maybe he was a John Edwards supporter. When Brokeback Mountain was released, Gibson was obviously not a fan. He mocked the filmed repeatedly, calling it "a gay agenda movie."

Can someone please dig up as much dirt as possible on this jerk? I really wanna find out how many male sex partners he may have had in the past. He's a closet case, and a cold-hearted asshole at best.

May Heath, a heterosexual male who had the courage to play a homosexual character, rest in peace. His family shouldn't have to go through this crap right now.

What will the consequences for Gibson's blatant homophobic remarks be?

According to the Daily News, Olsen's bodyguard later confirmed to police that two were dating. The Post quotes a police source as saying the two had a "mutual relationship."

According to a law enforcement official who spoke to the Post, the masseuse called Olsen first because "she didn't want a media circus." The Daily News reports that the masseuse called Olsen "for guidance."

Olsen told the masseuse she would send her security guards to the downtown Manhattan apartment.

After the masseuse tried to rouse Ledger, she discovered that his body was cold, the Post reports, so she called Olsen again. "I think he's dead," she said. Olsen replied, "I already have people coming over."

The masseuse then told Olsen she was calling 911.

Mary-Kate was called when the housekeeper couldn't wake Heath, so I'm not surprised people would piece together that Heath was dating her. I was waiting for it actually. I think Heath was banging the supermodel Helena Christensen, the one he was caught sucking face with, who was on her way to his crib when she found out about his passing.
