Holly Hester's first job in television was interning for David Letterman in the early 90's. Holly was a college student when Dave called her and asked her to go to the movies with him. From there the two began a secret f*ckship that lasted a year.
Holly says that no one on the staff had any clue that they were dating. Holly says, "I was madly in love with him at the time. I would have married him. He was hilarious."
After a year, Davey dumped Holly and he blamed it on their difference in age. I'm fluent in Dumb A*s B*tch, and for Holly to say that she "was madly in love" with Dave is not something you say about someone you dislike or someone who you feel wronged you. You just don't. You may feel that way, but you eliminate the mush.
Something tells me Holly actually believed that Dave dumped her because he's much older - something he knew before he asked her out and something he really doesn't care about till this day. Dave was going for younger women, hoping they wouldn't get attached, have baggage, or want him to put a ring on it like older mistresses would. Does she not get it? I'm not so sure that she does.
