Katie Stevens bravely sang her way through "Let It Be" on American Idol tonight, but as soon as she finished, the waterworks began.
Katie has been in the bottom 3 for as long as I can remember, and she has finally been put out of her misery. Unlike Andrew Garcia, who was also eliminated tonight (he looked the happiest he's ever been on the show), Katie wanted to stay. She had a good run, but her elimination was inevitable.
Katie Stevens is likable, talented, young and adorable.
But the 17 year-old from Boston tries to be sultry. The problem is she's wearing something young girls would wear to church. The dress? The headband? Woman, NO! Katie needs to pick a look and match it with her sound. She's got a strong, mature voice so if she's going to pick mature songs, she needs to look like she's old enough to drink in the States, or at least vote.
Simon Cowell put it best when he said: "It was like your mom and dad dressed you and picked the song. It started to become annoying. Very pageanty."
American Idol is only a few days into its 9th season, but Idol hopeful Katie Stevens is already a stand out. The 16 year-old high school student from Middlebury, CT, had a heartwarming and heartbreaking feature on Idol's season debut.
Katie is very close to her grandmother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease, and the aspiring star hopes to make her dreams come true in time for her grandmother to witness it. Katie got things off to a good start with her soulful rendition of well known jazz ballad, "At Last." Etta James, Celine Dion and Beyonce have all sung what Simon Cowell calls "a very difficult song to sing." Simon also said that Katie "sang it quite well." She sure did!
