First Lady Michelle Obama celebrates her 48th birthday today. Michelle remains incredibly youthful and fit, especially by First Lady standards. If she worked in Hollywood, she'd probably have us all convinced she's in her mid-thirties.

While her husband's approval ratings have fluctuated dramatically during his years in the White House, most of the country still seems to love Michelle. And why wouldn't they? Her commitment to charity work and nationwide physical fitness have made her one of the most highly-visible and proactive first ladies in recent memory. On top of that, she frequently manages to look fierce at public events, and her fashion sense has made her an international style icon. But in case you were worried that Michelle's ego has grown along with her public profile, bear in mind that the busy mother of two still shops at Target.

Michelle and her family have a tough year ahead of them, as President Barack Obama will mount a campaign to maintain control of the White House in the face of stiff competition. Being a politician's wife during election season can be a strenuous ordeal, but Michelle certainly seems up to the challenge.

Michelle Obama has joined her husband Barack by joining the micro-blogging social network site, Twitter. Michelle joined Twitter yesterday, but she already has over 245,000 followers!

The second tweet explained why the message above ends with "'-mo":

Michelle Obama is a real class act, so it's no wonder some hot young thang is trying to get one-on-one time with the First Lady. At a Washington D.C. charity event, sorting toys for low-income families, twenty-year-old Lance Cpl. Aaron Leeks asked Mrs. Obama if she would attend the Marine Corps. Ball with him. He's a little late on the fad, but it looks like it'll turn out well for him.

When he surprised her with the invitation, she told him she'd be happy to accompany him, as long as her husband gives the okay. "She said she'd love to go. Actually, she said I'd need to speak to her husband, but she said she'd love to."

At first, I was really confused because I honestly didn't realize there were this many Marine Corps. Balls! But I guess it's a nice change of pace for someone to invite Michelle Obama instead of, like, Kristen Cavallari. When you can say you went on a date with the President's wife, it sounds way more BAMF than saying you went with Jay Cutler's sometimes-fiance. No offense to any Laguna Beach alumnae.

He may be the President, but Barack Obama still likes to keep an eye on how much TV his daughters watch, and what they're watching. Michelle Obama recently admitted he's not a big fan of the Kardashian shows.

"Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians -- when they watch that stuff -- he doesn't like that as much."

As long as there's some kind of lesson the girls can learn from watching the Kardashians, Michelle doesn't have a problem if they watch it telling iVillage, "But I sort of feel like if we're talking about it, and I'm more concerned with how they take it in -- what did you learn when you watched that. And if they're learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, them I'm like, okay."

Keeping up with the Kardashians is perfect American family entertainment. If it's good enough for the Obamas, it's good enough for me... And it's trashy, which is why I love it even more.

We shouldn't be surprised by this. After all, Michelle Obama is a down-to-earth, humble first lady who knows a good bargain when she sees one. But just imagine for a second that you're walking through your local Target and you saw Michelle picking out some $6 sunglasses. You'd be all like, "Whaaaaaat?"

Especially if you saw her in that outfit. That's Michelle at the Alexandria, VA store. I guess she's trying to fit in, but she's at a Target in Virginia. If she really wanted to go unnoticed, she'd have to gain 80 pounds and wheeze with uncontrollable excitement when she saw the half-off sale on microwave taquitos. Just kidding, Virginia!

Apparently, the First Lady picked up some food and toys for the Obamas' dog, Bo. Witnesses says she also stopped by the book section and picked up a copy of "Saving Your Country From Economic Collapse For Dummies." I may have made that last part up.

Jennifer Hudson was the lucky gal to sing a sexy rendition of "Happy Birthday" to President Obama for his big 50th bash, but an insider reveals the First Lady was "horrified" over the performance. Say what?

The source says Jennifer was acting appropriately, but Barack was enjoying her performance a little too much and "was acting like a liquored up frat boy at a strip club."

"When Michelle and Barack got back to the White House, she read him the riot act."

Ha! Come on, I really don't believe this shiz. Michelle Obama has her man on lock down and a cutie like J-Hud can't get in the way. This is the White House, not high school!

Kate Middleton looked beautiful when she and Prince Harry met President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle on Tuesday. The Duchess of Cambridge's dress sent chicks into a frenzy, per usual!

The nude, form-fitting, $340 Reiss dress that showed off Kate's golden tan (acquired in the Seychelles) and super-slim body has sold out online stateside -- and even crashed the company's website!

Their website traffic spiked by more than 300 percent as a result of Kate's dress, called the "Shola."

I don't like how pointy this dress makes Katy's nips look. It's like, 'Is the fabric making them look hard, or does she secretly wanna make sex with Michele Obama?!'

President Barack Obama and wife Michelle are touring Europe this week, and after stopping to pound some Guinness in Ireland yesterday (seriously) they decided to swing by Buckingham palace today and congratulate the new royal couple.

Yep, there's Prince William and Kate Middleton, fresh off their honeymoon, chatting with Barry and Michelle. Kate and Michelle may be married to two of the most recognizable men in the world, but how much can they really have to talk about? Michelle's from the South Side of Chicago, and you know she wouldn't have waited around 8 years for some dude to put a ring on it. She probably just nodded and smiled while Kate called a bunch of things "dreadful," all the while thinking, "B!tch, please."

Following the meet and greet, the first couple were treated to a 41-gun salute and a performance of the Star Spangled Banner. They'll even spend the night in a six-room suite last used by Will and Kate. It's a nice change from when the Bushes used to show up to the palace and everyone turned off the lights and stayed real quiet hoping they'd go away.

When Michelle Obama wears something sleeveless, it's a big deal. When she wears shorts while visiting an Arizona desert, it's scandalous; and when she cuts her hair, it's like historic!

The First Lady debuted a bob on Tuesday when she and President Barack Obama attended Joe Biden's mother's funeral. Michelle told reporters that her new do was just "a little cut." It's being reported that "approximately two inches have been chopped off." Exciting.

This isn't the first time Michelle's hair has caused a stir. Back in July, she showed off an elegant, seemingly shorter style that was actually the work of pins and a clever "tuck up" technique by hairstylist Johnny Wright.

Readers just had to weigh in on POTP when Michelle pinned her hair back. She probably cut her hair cause it's falling out from all those hair extensions she gets now that her husband is Commander in Chief. Michelle could do anything and still look great. She's so photogenic! I don't really care about her perfect arms; I'm more jealous that Michelle looks better in most pictures than she does in videos cause I look mentally challenged and constipated in most pics. Grrr.

My favorite organization run by a group of loonies is at it again! This time, PETA has used an image of Michelle Obama in a new ad for their "Fur-Free and Fabulous" campaign.

Michelle is seen alongside Carrie Underwood, Oprah, and Tyra Banks, who all refuse to wear the real thing and stick with the faux fur. Even though PETA hasn't received permission to use Michelle's image in their campaign, the group's Prez, Ingrid Newkirk, doesn't seem to see a problem in using it.

"The fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn't wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA's eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous."

If she walked around with an Elk carcass draped across her body and a wore a goat uterus on her head as a hat, she would still be fabulous because she's Michelle frickin' Obama, people! The PETA people knew if they used her image without consent it would garner attention, and that's what they went for. They'll get their name out there one way or another.
