Isn’t this sweet? What a thoughtful way to honor the late actor. I don’t know about you, but I still miss Heath. May he rest in peace, and smile from ear to ear when he learns of Australia’s touching tribute.
Perth, Australia, is getting a new landmark: a $87 million, 575-seat auditorium named for a native son, the Heath Ledger Theatre.
“Heath Ledger was totally dedicated to the craft of being an actor and that’s what made him successful,” Carpenter said. “I think what we’re doing is continuing that support for young people who want to make a career in the arts and acting, stage and in film, whatever it happens to be.”
Also in attendance: Heath’s father, Kim Ledger, who considered the honor to his son a pleasant surprise.
“He was such a giver to the arts right across the board. I really feel that there’s not a lot of things he’d put his name to, but he’d put his name to that,” said the elder Ledger.
Kim Ledger also said that the praise being heaped upon Heath’s performance is making his family’s private grieving all the more difficult.
“It’s been a little bit hard, but we’ve always been extremely proud of his work and that hasn’t changed.”

Michelle Williams is not feuding with Heath Ledger’s family over the late actor’s will.According to the New York Post, Williams plans to skip the upcoming Dark Knight premiere because Ledger’s family will be there. A source says she is still “furious” with them because she “has seen nothing” from Ledger’s will.
But her rep tells Us:
“The presumption that Michelle ever intended to attend The Dark Knight premiere is unfounded, but to say she is ‘boycotting’ due to a rift with Heath’s family is absurd.
“It is time to allow this family to go about their lives without this continued scrutiny and speculation.”

The actress (who is in town for just 48 hours, traveling without daughter Matilda, 2) added: “[It's] something you can look back on at the end of your life and think, ‘That was a cool thing I did when I was 27.’ “
Williams walked into the Palais du Festivals laughing and chatting with Keener, their arms linked around each other’s waists.
